Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)
RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome
Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.
Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

Arch goon, lunatic, and one of the comic masters of the 20th Century, Spike Milligan (R.I.P) was a classic Shakespearian fool, who lived his irreverent but prophetic vocation to the end. The inscription on his tombstone says it all: “I told you I was sick.”
The man was a crack-up in more ways than one. His wacky humour may not be everybody’s cup of English Breakfast, but his commitment to making people laugh was certainly impressive; laugh without the slightest trace of bitterness, as one who surrenders their whole being to the truth of who we are and have always been. Because the man who by God’s grace understands himself to be wholly an idiot stands the best chance of becoming a holy idiot.
I assume visitors to this site are as weary of this saga as we are, and we’re thus more than happy to accept Father’s explanation and to wish him Godspeed. The Remnant remains firmly committed to building bridges with fellow Catholics, even those who may vehemently disagree with our editorial positions. We believe it is essential, however, to defend traditional Catholicism against unjust accusations, which is why, after having publicly called for a retraction, and with none forthcoming, I asked Chris Ferrara to formalize our demand for retraction by letter.
At the end of the day and despite obvious disagreements, we’d much prefer to consider Father Longenecker a potential ally rather than an adversary, especially in light of forthcoming events in Rome, but also considering the rise of Christophobia in the world at large. The sobering reality is that the far-Left recognizes very little difference between traditional Catholics and conservatives such as Father Longenecker. As far as the enemies of Christ are concerned, we’re all 'haters' who will eventually have to be silenced. Those who are willing to defend Christ and His Church in this increasingly Christophobic climate would thus do well to find ways to come together wherever possible, and it is our hope that despite the unpleasantness of this exchange, some small advances in that regard and on both sides were nevertheless realized.
The matter is therefore closed. We ask Father to pray for us, even as we will pray for him, that a greater understanding might gradually begin to develop between all those who seek to remain in the faithful service of Christ our King and His Church under siege, even despite the confusion and uncertainty that seem to everywhere dominate the landscape.
In necessariis unitas, in dubiis libertas, in omnibus caritas.

The “Joy of Love” is about to explode upon the Catholic world, no doubt overthrowing the teaching of both John Paul II and Benedict XVI, in line with all of Tradition, on the impossibility of Holy Communion for those living in a state of continual adultery. The overthrow will be veiled in ambiguous references to the “internal forum,” “integration,” and a “path or journey” culminating in admission to Holy Communion according to the “competence” of the local ordinary or the “episcopal conferences” Paul VI invented to begin the process of fragmenting the universal discipline of the Church Universal in the context of the “liturgical reform.”
In short, if what seems likely comes to pass, practice will hollow out the dogma on the indissolubility of marriage, making a mockery of the very words of Our Lord Himself, which “The Joy of Love” will of course affirm resoundingly with paragraph after paragraph of empty praise.
Cardinal Dolan on Apostolic Exhortation: “Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit the Church is trying to be faithful" Featured
By: Christopher A. Ferrara"Bishop Fellay did not have an opportunity to meet Pope Francis since the Holy Father’s election in March 2013, other than exchanging very brief salutations at Domus Sanctae Marthae, on December 13, 2013 (see DICI no. 296 of 5-16-2014). However, some priests of the Society were previously received by the Supreme Pontiff, regarding certain administrative difficulties in the Society’s District of Argentina (see DICI no 314 of 4-24-2015).
"Pope Francis had wanted a private and informal meeting, without the formality of an official audience. It lasted 40 minutes and took place under a cordial atmosphere. After the meeting, it was decided that the current exchanges would continue. The canonical status of the Society was not directly addressed, Pope Francis and Bishop Fellay having determined that these exchanges ought to continue without haste." READ MORE
REMNANT COMMENT: Strange times, indeed. What's in this 'regularization' for the Vatican? That, of course, is the question on the minds of many of us. What are the chances that Pope Francis earnestly desires to officially install an order of traditional Catholic priests in the heart and bosom of the mainstream Church, to go on offering principled criticism and resistance to his agenda? And if he does not desire this, why does he evidently desire to regularize the Society of St. Pius X, thus 'legitimizing' his most organized opposition?
We'll have to wait and see, and while many of us are apprehensive over the prospect of the largest traditional Catholic priestly society in the world being somehow co-opted by a Vatican steeped in moral and theological turmoil, it remains obvious that prayers are needed, that we cannot rule out the grace of God in any of this, and that even if this is some Machiavellian scheme on the part of the Vatican, God is still in charge of His Church.
We have confidence that Bishop Fellay understands what is at stake and will do nothing to intentionally harm the cause of Tradition and restoration. He thus requires our prayers, not our rush to judgment. What is abundantly clear at this point, thanks to the tireless efforts of Bishop Fellay and his team, is that the SSPX is not now nor has it ever been in schism.
So what's next? Whatever happens we must remain united in our resolve to never allow anything to divide and thus conquer the traditional Catholic counterrevolution. Vatican 'traps' have failed in the past, and Vatican 'traps' will fail in the future. If that is what this is, so be it. The truth and sacred Tradition will win out in the end.
St Athanasius, Pray for us, pray for the Church.
Breaking News: Pope Francis Received Bishop Fellay on Friday, April 1, 2016

When Tertullian wrote, probably in the late second century, that the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church, the images in his mind, of bloodied, dismembered, mangled, and maimed Christian bodies subjected to persecution and put to death for the sake of Christ, were likely little different from those that crowd into our own minds today.
Turn where you will, you will find men and women crucified, beheaded, blinded, burned, imprisoned, and impaled—the Church Militant here below shading awfully, and yet supernaturally, into the Church Suffering above.

Accordingly, I hereby demand that within five days of the date of this letter you publish on your website, with as much prominence as the original article, your full and unequivocal retraction of the statements “given enough rope they will move from verbal violence to physical violence” and “given enough rope they will move from verbal violence to personal violence” as they apply to the Remnant its Editor and his associates.”In compliance with Mr Ferrara’s request I retract fully, unequivocally and completely any statement or suggestion that Mr Matt, The Remnant staff, readers and associates might tend towards violence of any kind, nor would they ever threaten anybody.

I have received a letter from Christopher A. Ferrara–an attorney for The Remnant which says:Readers may recall Fr. Dwight Longenecker’s unprovoked attack on traditional Catholics last month in an article entitled “Ten Traits of Catholic Fundamentalism” (Patheos.com). In the wake of that article, The Remnant issued a demand for public retraction from Fr. Longenecker.
"Accordingly, I hereby demand that within five days of the date of this letter you publish on your website, with as much prominence as the original article, your full and unequivocal retraction of the statements 'given enough rope they will move from verbal violence to physical violence' and 'given enough rope they will move from verbal violence to personal violence' as they apply to the Remnant its Editor and his associates."
In compliance with Mr Ferrara’s request I retract fully, unequivocally and completely any statement or suggestion that Mr Matt, The Remnant staff, readers and associates might tend towards violence of any kind, nor would they ever threaten anybody."

"Catholic journalist Raymond Arroyo, who wrote a popular biography of Mother Angelica, reports that she thought that “Latin was the perfect language for the Mass.” She explained: “It was almost mystical. It gave you an awareness of heaven, of the awesome humility of God who manifests Himself in the guise of bread and wine. The love that He had for us, His desire to remain with us is simply awesome. You could concentrate on that love, because you weren’t distracted by your own language.”
"She also didn’t like how the priest faces the people, rather than the altar. She said this turned the Mass into “something between the people and the priest.” “Too often,” she continued, “it’s just some kind of get-together and Jesus is all but forgotten.” READ MORE HERE
REMNANT COMMENT: God bless Mother Angelica. I fear we shall not again see mainstream Catholic television activists (who are actually Catholic) such as Mother Angelica for a long, long time. Here was a woman who wasn't afraid to speak the truth, no matter the costs. I'll never forget back on May 16, 2001, for example, hearing these words live from Mother Angelica when she was asked if she believes we were given the entire Third Secret of Fatima:
As for the Secret, well I happen to be one of those individuals who thinks we didn’t get the whole thing. I told ya! I mean, you have the right to your own opinion, don’t you, Father? There, you know, that’s my opinion. Because I think it’s scary. And I don’t think the Holy See is going to say something that does not happen, that might happen. And then what does it do if it doesn’t happen? I mean the Holy See cannot afford to make prophecies, because. I know, — I don’t know — my funeral . . . It’s not me, so don’t look at me . . . Something’s gonna happen soon. It could be twenty years before it happens. So to God “soon” could be a thousand years. We don’t know that.Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
Mother Angelica’s Little-Known Love of the Latin Mass

Translated for The Remnant by Carolina Santos
“If anyone denies that in the venerable sacrament of the Eucharist the whole Christ is contained under each form and under every part of each form when separated, let him be anathema.” … Council of Trent
I have been observing discussions about the topic of “communion in the hand.” In all of them I notice a set of arguments frequently made by the laity and the clergy alike, some justifying the reception of communion in the hand, others the administration of it, which shows that, despite their good intentions, they do not understand the true nature of the problem at hand.
Communion in the Hand: The Floor Is Stained with His Blood
By: Miguel Ángel Yáñez, Spain CorrespondentBrothers-in-Arms: Cardinal Kasper and Pope Francis the Great
Editor's Note: This article first appeared in the November 15, 2014 issue of The Remnant but it is no less relevant today, with reports now surfacing that Pope Francis signed the Apostolic Post-Synod on the Family Exhortation on the Feast of St. Joseph, March 19, and that it is scheduled to be released shortly after Easter. According to a report in Corriere della Sera of March 20th, the exhortation "will include many innovative practical choices regarding marriage preparation and couples in irregular situations: not only for the divorced and remarried but also for cohabiters, marriages with a believer and non-believer and for those only civilly-married.” May God help us all. MJM
Question: Can we expect spirited resistance from our favorite Neo-Catholic commentators against whatever shenanigans Kasper and company decide to pull with Francis’ approval at next year's Synod on the Family? No! Why? Because in principle, they have already hitched their intellectual wagons to the Kasper train.
