In an apparent attempt to stick to his election promises to drain out the swamp, US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated a slew of cabinet picks and staff that have been facing loads of scrutiny from liberal elites to ordinary American observers.
Nonetheless, some of Trump’s nominees have raised eyebrows among devoted pro-lifers.
For one, it remains to be seen if the former U.S. Senate candidate and celebrity medical practitioner Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has been picked to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will oppose abortion in all scenarios, as he had claimed previously that he supported “exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother”.
Furthermore, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, a Fox News medical contributor, who has been selected for the post of US Surgeon General, also harbors contentious views regarding the killing of unborn babies, as she notoriously hailed Trump’s backing of dangerous abortion pills in June this year.
As Jonathon Van Maren reported in LifeSiteNews (LSN), after Alabama passed a bill criminalizing abortion with an exception for “serious health risks” to the mother in 2019, Nesheiwat slammed the bill, stating:
“As a doctor I’m concerned for safety. Are we gonna see an uprising in back alley abortions, young teenagers involuntarily hurting themselves trying to self-abort their fetuses out of fear & not having alternatives.”
Van Maren added:
“While Nesheiwat appears to have flip-flopped in how she speaks about abortion over the years, the best litmus test for determining one’s actual convictions is the position they take when it is difficult to do so. When she had the opportunity to defend laws protecting preborn children in the womb, Nesheiwat not only declined to do so — she even avoided referring to pre-born children as children or babies, instead opting to refer to “fetuses,” a scientifically accurate term that is generally used to dehumanize the pre-born.”
Strikingly, one of Trump’s most controversial staff picks, is none other than Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr. RFK’s nomination by Trump himself to lead the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has unsurprisingly caused a stir among pro-lifers, given the former’s pro-abortion track record.
“My belief is that we should leave it to the woman, we shouldn’t have the government involved,” Kennedy said, despite claiming to be a Catholic.
During an interview with NBC News, RFK stated he supported killing babies in abortions but resists abortions after viability.
“I believe a decision to abort a child should be up to the women during the first three months of life,” Kennedy said in an interview at an event in Iowa, as per a report by Life News.
Additionally, while on an episode of “The Sage Steele Show” aired in May this year, RFK claimed he supported the killing of unborn babies “even if it’s full term.”
“My belief is that we should leave it to the woman, we shouldn’t have the government involved,” Kennedy said, despite claiming to be a Catholic.
When questioned by Steele, on whether he holds his pro-abortion position for the entirety of pregnancy, RFK replied, in remarks cited by Catholic News Agency (CNA):
“I don’t think it’s ever OK. I think we should do everything in our power to make sure that never happens, everything that we can do. But I think ultimately, nobody sets out to do that and there are always some kind of extenuating circumstances that would make a mother make that kind of choice, a terrible, terrible choice which is, you know, you can’t overstate how bad that is, but ultimately, I think we have to trust the woman.”
Under Trump, RFK has campaigned to “Make America Healthy Again (MAHA)”, pledging to address various diseases he claimed were an “existential” threat to America’s future, according to CBS News.
“[Trump] asked me to end the chronic disease epidemic in this country. And he said, I want to see results, measurable results in the diminishment of chronic disease within two years. And I said, Mr. President, I will do that,” Kennedy said on November 2.
On his end, Trump has promised to grant Kennedy the leeway to “go wild” on health matters.
“The American people re-elected President Trump by resounding margins because they trust his judgement and support his policies, including his promise to Make America Healthy Again alongside well-respected leaders like RFK Jr.,” Karoline Leavitt, Trump-Vance Transition spokeswoman, told CBS News.
Yet pro-lifers and faithful Catholics cannot help but wonder about RFK’s suitability for the role of HHS chief. Former Vice President Mike Pence had this to say about Kennedy’s nomination:
“On behalf of tens of millions of pro-life Americans, I respectfully urge Senate Republicans to reject this nomination and give the American people a leader who will respect the sanctity of life,” Pence declared in a statement published by the group Advancing American Freedom, decrying the choice as “deeply concerning to millions of pro-life Americans”.
Indeed, for someone who is the founder, and former chairman and chief litigation counsel, for Children’s Health Defense, RFK’s pro-abortion track record is alarming, to say the least.
It is ludicrous to the point of hypocrisy for RFK to claim to protect children from dangerous childhood vaccines and fluoride in water if he does not unabashedly defend the lives of unborn children as well.
After all, isn’t an unborn baby someone’s child?
Also, doesn’t evidence-based science already prove that life begins at the moment of conception?
Hence, it is ludicrous to the point of hypocrisy for RFK to claim to protect children from dangerous childhood vaccines and fluoride in water if he does not unabashedly defend the lives of unborn children as well.
For years, HHS’ proclaimed mission “to enhance the health and well-being of all Americans, by providing for effective health and human services and by fostering sound, sustained advances in the sciences underlying medicine, public health, and social services” has sadly been undermined by under numerous Democrat administrations.
Under the murderous Joe Biden regime, the HHS even kickstarted a deceitful ReproductiveRights.gov platform that has made numerous bogus medical claims, even falsely alleging that the murder of unborn babies is a “right”.
With Trump and even self-proclaimed Catholic J.D.Vance supporting keeping access to the dangerous abortion pill, which is culpable for most abortions in the US, and with RFK expected to helm the HHS (pending Senate approval), pro-lifers understandably are concerned, and would have to continue the uphill task of defending the lives of unborn babies.
Besides, Trump sadly hopes that the federal government would pay for, or to compel insurance companies to pay for, the destructive practice of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments that kills more human embryos than even abortion does.
Nevertheless, some pro-lifers remain cautiously optimistic that RFK’s nomination for the role of HHS chief could turn out to be a boon for the pro-life cause. Ryan Bomberger, a writer for LifeNews.com, is one such man. In an op-ed, Bomberger stated:
“RFK Jr. offered this interesting caveat on abortion while speaking to Megyn Kelly: “I’ll change my position always based upon if I was wrong on the facts.” And he had this to say about transgenderism, particularly as it pertains to the medical malfeasance surrounding body-mutilating drugs and surgeries on minors: “I don’t know enough about it to say that it should be completely illegal. I don’t know enough. I need to look at the data before I make a decision.” This is the silver lining. He’s not an automaton who simply regurgitates political talking points. He’s amenable to being illuminated and elevated. I’d highly recommend, then, on these two issues he speaks to the medical professionals who deal with these issues on a daily basis: The American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs (see www.womenshealthmatters.org) and the American College of Pediatricians (see www.biologicalintegrity.org). And maybe, he would entertain meeting with pro-life, pro-family activists like me who can help provide not only the context but bring clarity to our very humanity. Elective abortion is always a tragedy — a needless one. We can Make Abortion Gone Again by supporting mothers, not exploiting them. This is part of how we Make America Healthy Again.”
Indeed, to Make America Healthy Again (MAHA), RFK should be fully pro-life, including embracing and practising the Catholic Faith in which he was raised. Once elected as HHS chief, RFK should stamp out Big Abortion and its vestiges to truly promote life-giving health services to all Americans.
However, not all hope is lost.
More Catholic prelates can and should join the likes of Bishop Joseph Strickland and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone by publicly calling out anti-life celebrities, politicians and bureaucrats for abetting the killing of unborn babies.
Thanks be to God, there remains a silver lining with regard to some of Trump’s staff picks.
For example, Trump nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as US Attorney General. Judging from the angry reactions of the abortion cult following Bondi’s nomination, pro-lifers have a cause for celebration.
What is more, Harmeet Dhillon, a prominent, pro-life attorney, has been nominated to the role of Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Department of Justice.
Previously, Dhillon worked with pro-life group Live Action on a censorship case, and represented undercover investigator David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) in a defamation suit against Planned Parenthood.
Forthcoming nominee for US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has also been vocal about his pro-life views as well.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, despite his flirtations with America’s Deep State war hawks regarding the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, has echoed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s excellent plans to defund Planned Parenthood.
God willing, Trump 2.0 can also put a quick end to the unconscionable practice of researching on and selling aborted baby parts.

By placing Our Lord Jesus Christ and the teachings of his Catholic Church at the center of society, America (and the world) can, with the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, make its long-delayed return to God.
Only by putting God’s law into action (by adhering to the Fifth Commandment), can the upcoming Trump administration Make America Healthy Again (MAHA), from the womb to the tomb.
