For any Catholic who might be contributing to the Mercy Corps organization, I just want to let you know why I can no longer support them. Attached below is the letter I just sent to them.

Dear Mercy Corps Team:

I regret to inform you that I will no longer be financially contributing to Mercy Corps. I am a traditional Catholic and I cannot in sincere conscience support any organization that advocates for “PRIDE MONTH” (Summer 2023 Mercy Corps Newsletter). In fact, for me it would constitute participating in a sinful act.

There is an expression “Love the sinner, but hate the sin." As a Christian, I do not hate anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+. On the contrary, we believe that true charity, true love compels us to pray for them and to offer them respect that is due to every soul.

Why is prayer needed? There are four sins that literally “cry to Heaven for vengeance.” One is murder, and another is the sin of sodomy. If a homosexual is in an active relationship with another homosexual he is in an objective state of mortal sin and risks eternal damnation. That is not merely my personal opinion. It is established dogma and praxis over two millennia.

June has always been devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Members of your team marching in a “Pride Parade” mocks Our Savior Who died to save these very same souls who are marching to their own damnation.

I do not expect you to change your position with regard to this, although I do hope you may reconsider it. Therefore I have no other option except to withhold my support.

If you send me further requests for contributions you will only be wasting your postage. This is why I am providing the courtesy of informing you not to do so in future.

Yours in Christ,
Robert Maresca
