GloriaTV is reporting that, after a secret trial, Father Pierre de Maillard, 56, was sentenced on June 2 to twenty years in prison by the Vendée Assize Court for the rape and sexual assault of a total of sixteen boys and eleven girls. Maillard must spend at least 13 years in prison. Before the jury retired to deliberate, Maillard was quoted by his lawyers as saying: "I apologise, I am sorry, I apologise, I am sorry".

REMNANT COMMENT: This scandal is cause neither for shock nor surprise, since clerical corruption exists throughout the entire church, and the SSPX is part of the Church. They are not immune to the problem and, in this case, justice has been served.

We call on the SSPX to be absolutely transparent in addressing and rooting out sex offenders, since covering for sex offenders is an abomination before God and man, regardless of whether said offender is a traditionalist or not.
