Roots of Far-Left Radical Rhetoric and Tactics

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”  - A Pillar of Iron by Taylor Caldwell

It bears repeating.  Same song, second verse – this time a little bit louder.  Why?  Both our religious and secular situations continue their downward spirals…

Arguably, today's American religious and secular far left (i.e., radical) rhetoric and tactics are basically rooted in the teachings of Saul Alinsky (Alinsky) and, to a lesser extent, Mao Tse-tung (Mao).

This is an election year. Arguably, a vote for the political far left is basically a vote for the radical political agendas of Saul Alinsky (Alinsky) and, to a lesser extent, Mao Tse-tung (Mao).

Arguably, contemporary high-profile secular and religious students of Alinksy include Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Pope Paul VI, and many others – but that is another subject (i.e., The Fruits of Radical Catholic Modernism?, and  Saul Alinsky’s Ethics and Power Rules for Radicals).

Alinsky's radical rhetoric and tactics are published in his Reveille for Radicals and his Rules for Radicals.  Examples of Alinsky’s radical rhetoric include:

  • “Ethical standards must be elastic to stretch with the times.” [Rules for Radicals, paperback pages 30-31]
  • There can be no such thing as a successful traitor, for if one succeeds he becomes a founding father." [Rules for Radicals, paperback page 34]
  • "THAT PERENNIAL QUESTION, "Does the end justify the means?" is meaningless as it stands; the real and only question regarding the ethics of means and ends is, and always has been, “Does this particular end justify this particular means?”" [Rules for Radicals, paperback page 24]

That being said, it behooves us to put this rhetoric (i.e., rules and ethics) in perspective – by quoting Alinsky:

  • “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgement to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins – or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom – Lucifer.” [Rules for Radicals, paperback unnumbered page following dedication of book and preceding contents]
  • “WHAT FOLLOWS IS for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away (emphasis supplied).” [Rules for Radicals, paperback unnumbered page 3, opening paragraph of first chapter]
  • “The central question that the church of today and tomorrow must face is no longer, “Is there life after death?” but rather, “Is there life after birth?” [Reveille for Radicals, paperback page 223]
  • “This brings me to the question I have been confronted with everywhere: “What, if anything, is your ideology?” Here we come to grips with a basic issue. What kind of ideology, if any, can an organizer have in a free society, working for a free society? The prerequisite for an ideology is possession of a basic truth. For example, a Marxist begins with his prime truth that all evils are caused by the exploitation of the proletariat by the capitalists. From this evolves the idea of the revolution to end capitalism, then the premise of reorganization into a new social order or the dictatorship of the proletariat, and finally the last stage – the political paradise of communism (emphasis supplied). The Christians also have a prime truth: the divinity of Christ and the tripartite nature of God. Once these concepts are accepted, a formula for a way of life follows step by step.” [Reveille for Radicals, paperback edition, Introduction to the Vintage Edition, page xii]

Given that so many of our everyday items are "Made in China" you also have to wonder how much of the American far left's rhetoric and tactics are also rooted in Mao Tse-tung's publications: Little Red Book (The Sayings of Chairman Mao), Mao-Tse-tung on Guerilla Warfare, and The Art of War by Mao Tse-tung.

This day in history could have been avoided if we had only listened to what four traditional Roman Catholic pontiffs had been telling us for many years prior to the Second Vatican Council.

Examples of “Made in China” quotes attributed to Chairman Mao Tse-tung include:

  • The seizure of power by armed force, the settlement of the issue by war, is the central task and the highest form of revolution. This Marxist-Leninist principle of revolution holds good universally, for China and for all other countries.” (The Little Red Book: The Sayings of Chairman Mao, Kindle Edition, page 59.)
  • "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." (The Little Red Book: The Sayings of Chairman Mao, Kindle Edition, page 59.)
  • Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party.” (The Little Red Book: The Sayings of Chairman Mao, Kindle Edition, page 85.)
  • We should support whatever the enemy opposes and oppose whatever the enemy supports.” (The Little Red Book: The Sayings of Chairman Mao, Kindle Edition, page 29.)

It can also be argued that we were warned (i.e., USA or USSA? (We Were Warned, Too Bad We Didn’t Listen)) about many of today’s social justice issues – by Catholic Popes.  Sadly, this day in history could have been avoided if we had only listened to what four (4) traditional Roman Catholic pontiffs had been telling us for many years prior to the Second Vatican Council. They published eleven (11) little known traditional papal documents that focus on today’s Social Justice and Economic Democracy issues (i.e., Socialism, Communism, Christian Democracy, and Americanism) in the context of the Kingdom of Christ.  Chronologically:

It can also be argued that we were warned about many of today’s modernist religious  issues – by Catholic Popes.  Sadly, this day in history could have been avoided if we had only listened to what four traditional Roman Catholic pontiffs had been telling us for many years prior to the Second Vatican Council. They published fourteen (14) little known traditional papal documents that focus on today’s modernist religious issues (i.e., Promulgating the Tridentine Liturgy, On Liberalism and Indifferentism, On the Education of Clergy, On Sacred Music, On Teaching Christian Doctrine, Establishing Certain Laws for the Driving Out of the Dangers of Modernism, etc. etc.).

Arguably, Pope Paul VI tuned out his predecessor pontiff’s warnings regarding modernism and listened instead to Saul Alinsky.  The result was July 17, 1967 – a day that will live in modernist infamy – but that is still another subject that was published online twice (originally in Remnant and shortly thereafter with the endorsement of a bishop emeritus)

Arguably, it can also be said that a religion (i.e., traditional Roman Catholicism) can survive the fools and the ambitious – but it cannot survive treason from within…

All of that being said, this is an election year. Arguably, a vote for the political far left is basically a vote for the radical political agendas of Saul Alinsky (Alinsky) and, to a lesser extent, Mao Tse-tung (Mao). At the risk of being redundant, this day in history could have been avoided if we had only listened to what four traditional Roman Catholic pontiffs had been telling us for many years prior to the Second Vatican Council.

That being said, text and tweet no more. Read and read – and read some more. And, more importantly, pray and pray – and pray some more…
