BOMBSHELL: Bishop Morlino Apologizes to the SSPX

Big News from Remnant TV...

His Excellency Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison, Wisconsin graciously apologizes to the Society of St. Pius X.

Will this stunning development finally end the schism mongers' ugly witch hunt?

Plus, Edward Pentin reports on an explosive dossier inside the Vatican that may mean big trouble for Pope Francis.

Addendum:

Please understand that we at The Remnant are not here claiming that Bishop Robert Morlino is offering his full endorsement of the SSPX. He is not, which only adds to the gravity of his monumental apology. In other words, he believes that there certainly are problems with the SSPX canonical status, and therefore one might expect a man in his position to claim they’re somehow outside of the Church and to be avoided. But instead Bishop Morlino refers to them as “another priestly society” made up of “very fine people trying to act in good faith” and apologizes for having ever suggested that Catholics need to stay away from them. What we have here is a mainstream Catholic bishop insisting that the SSPX, despite a certain canonical irregularity, is in the Church and not in schism. This is HUGE!

I don’t know what his motives were for issuing the apology. I can only assume they were sincere. But even if they were not—perhaps especially if they were not—the takeaway here is that even bishops now feel compelled to defend the SSPX against the charge of schism. We need not scrutinize his motives in order to appreciate the overall ramifications of His Excellency’s words. We need only express our gratitude to God for this welcome development by which the SSPX is declared inside the Church without Bishop Fellay having to say a single word or make any sort of false compromise.

In point of fact, the SSPX is most definitely inside the Church as are all traditional Catholics. It's our Church, after all, our castle. It's our birthright. It's our home. It's our mother—and we have no intention of running off and letting Modernists have their way with her. We stay, keep the old faith, and fight until we get "our buildings" back. St. Athanasius showed us how it's done. And the SSPX is working to accomplish that end, which is why they accept Francis as pope, pray for the local bishops at all their Masses and have never tried to create the Petite Église.

This is war--war on Tradition--and we must take it one step at a time. First, the SSPX's principled case against the new orientation of the Church, the New Mass, the problematic aspects of certain novel teachings of Vatican II is routinely dismissed  as false by the Neo-Catholic establishment on the grounds that the SSPX is in schism and thus their case for Tradition need not be taken seriously by anyone. The first order of business, obviously, is to strip the Neo-Catholics of recourse to their go-to argument against the SSPX. Bishop Morlino, as a mainstream bishop, has now done exactly that. Praise God! And with it established that even bishops and the pope see the SSPX as INSIDE the Church, we can all now move on to discussions of supplied jurisdiction and other points of contention. But first and foremost the charge of schism must be done away with.

Please don’t confuse our appreciation for this bombshell apology as somehow tantamount to a claim that the Bishop is now a traditionalist whose every position we endorse, for surely this is not the case. But he is obviously a well-intentioned man, who has the faith, and his apology is extremely useful. I would thus ask all traditionalists to please prayerfully consider the Bishop’s rank in the Church, the courage required to make this apology and the context of the apology, and don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. The SSPX won an important round here today, and regardless of his motives we can thank the Bishop of Madison for setting the record straight and for helping to undermine malicious and utterly fraudulent arguments against the SSPX.

Thank you, Your Excellency, for doing the right thing and for your continued goodwill and support of those devoted to the Traditional Latin Mass. May God bless you always.
