Ironically enough, this video was itself subject to an act of blatant discrimination by our friends at YouTube this morning when they slapped an age restriction on it, claiming that a clip we used violated YouTube Community Guidelines against depictions of violence (the clip was a reenactment of the martyrdom of St. Thomas More).
Trouble is that the clip was taken (under fair use law) from an unrestricted YouTube video that already has 101,000 views ON YOUTUBE and is NOT restricted at all.
This is not just about Remnant TV. I’m not looking for advice on an alternative video platform. We have already built our own alternative -- Remnant-TV.com -- and as we work to move our 270,000 YouTube subscribers over to our platform, this case provides an example of how the harassment/discrimination works.
This new Underground is all about the rise of persecution against Christians. Imagine that!
Several years ago, YouTube demonetized us, after they’d apparently decided we were hitting too close to the target. When RTV started raking in millions of views in our stuff against the WEF, YouTube began taking our videos down and giving our channel strikes. Three months ago, YouTube permanently restricted our channel's "privileges," informing me that unless and until I send them a scan of my passport, Remnant TV's YouTube channel was to remain penalized.
I refused to comply, and now they’ve resorted to this kind of blatant harassment:
This morning, I sent YouTube a letter of objection: “YouTube has made a mistake. The offending section of my video is actually an edited version of a YouTube video, the full version of which currently has 101,000 views on YouTube ALREADY and is NOT age restricted at all. I edited this YouTube video with the YouTube Community Guidelines in mind. We made sure there was no violence depicted in our video and we cut out the blood that appears in the current YouTube clip. So please lift the age restriction right now as our video was already edited to conform with YouTube Community Guidelines. Thank you.”
Within about thirty seconds, YouTube replied:
"Hi, TheRemnantVideo,
We have reviewed your appeal for the following: 'Video: FREE SPEECH, RIP: Antisemitism Awareness Act vs. Worldwide Christophobia.' We reviewed your content carefully, and have confirmed that it violates our violent or graphic content policy. We know this is probably disappointing news, but it's our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all."
Bottomline: YouTube restricts the use of video clips for Christian/conservative channels but has no restrictions on the very same video clips for everyone else. Obviously, Remnant TV is subject to discrimination at YouTube. So, watch and share our videos here and at Remnant-TV.com.
