As the World Grows More Demonically Insane, the Cross of Christ Beckons

Every day in the secular realm, we find new indications that the world is almost completely insane, and the insanity increasingly has a distinctly demonic aspect to it. As demonically insane as the secular world looks now, though, it is the picture of holy sanity compared to Francis’s Synodal Church. Since Easter alone, we have the following manifestations of insane wickedness from Rome:

  • The celebration of an Anglican ceremony in St. John Lateran
  • Francis’s gift of relics of the True Cross to King Charles III
  • The blasphemous transgender “art” exhibit in a Manhattan Catholic church
  • More denunciations of actual Catholicism from Francis
  • The release of Synodal documents further confirming the Synodal Church’s radical departure from Catholicism

In sane times, any of these would be sufficient reason for faithful Catholics to direct their fervent prayers and penance in reparation. But we have witnessed these horrors for a decade and have grown accustomed to their prevalence, as well as to the muted response from those shepherds who ought to defend the Mystical Body of Christ. We have learned to accept the unacceptable.

The attack on the Cross of Christ has now led to a situation in which we cannot escape the fact that we are lost without the Cross of Christ.

This is deeply problematic because evils that are not adequately opposed tend to give rise to greater evils. Since the time that Christ established the Catholic Church, it has had the most important role in opposing evil, through its mission of bringing God’s truth and grace to the world. However, through a process we have witnessed for the past several decades, the Church’s enemies have managed to hijack the Church’s apparent authority and redirect it to the support of Satan in his attacks against God and souls.

In his Spiritual Journey, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre acknowledged that the Church Militant has always faced “periods of trial on account of the infidelity of its clerics,” but he explained why we face greater trials now:

“The higher they come from, the more scandals provide disasters. Certainly, the Church itself guards its sanctity and its sources of sanctification, but the control of its institutions by unfaithful popes and apostate bishops ruins the faith of the faithful and the clergy, sterilizes the instruments of grace, and favors the assault of all the powers of Hell which seem to triumph.” (p. 54)

This holy wisdom establishes a test we can apply today: assuming the Catholic Church is truly the guardian of truth and grace in the world, if we were to see it controlled by apostate shepherds, we would expect to see the faith of the laity and clergy ruined, a sterilization of the instruments of grace, and an increased assault by the powers of Hell. As the control of apostate shepherds increases, we would expect Hell to gain even more power. Because this is what we see today, we paradoxically have a strong confirmation that the Church is truly the guardian of God’s truth and grace.

This confirmation that the Church was truly established by Our Lord for the salvation of souls is even more powerful once we understand the ways in which the enemies of God have deliberately attacked it. Those who have seriously studied the crisis in the Church generally understand the contribution of various errors, including modernism, humanism, and false ecumenism. Regardless of our appreciation of these errors, though, most faithful Catholics have firsthand experience with the various ways in which the Conciliar Church has led souls to abandon the Cross of Christ.

As the world grows more demonically insane, we will continue to recognize the increased need to cling to the only remedy, the Cross of Christ. And we can find that only in the actual Catholic Church, which Francis devotes so much of his energy to destroy.

As Fr. Alvaro Calderon wrote (specifically about humanism) in his Prometheus: The Religion of Man, “dissolving” the Cross of Christ theoretically allows those who reject the Church’s teachings to make use of the Church for their own purposes:

“The only thing humanism needed to make the Gospel amiable and exploit its goodness was to dissolve the Cross of Christ. For integral humanism, the great — perhaps the only — defect of medieval Christianity was having centered the mystery of Christ in Sacrifice, coloring religion with its negative hue, so repugnant to the heart of men.” (p. 236)

In many instances, Novus Ordo churches have done their best to remove all reminders of the Cross. But even when the Crucifix remains at the forefront of the church building, the false shepherds do all they can to remove it from the souls of the faithful. As Archbishop Lefebvre described in Open Letter to Confused Catholics, this removal of the Cross is a feature of the Novus Ordo Missae itself, just as it was for Luther’s liturgy:

“All the supernatural virtue of the Mass comes from its relationship to the Sacrifice of the Cross. If we no longer believe that, then we no longer believe anything about Holy Church, the Church would no longer have any reason for existing, we would no longer claim to be Catholics. Luther understood very clearly that the Mass is the heart and soul of the Church. He said: ‘Let us destroy the Mass and we shall destroy the Church.’ Now we can see that the Novus Ordo Missae, that is to say, the New Order adopted after the Council, has been drawn up on Protestant lines, or at any rate dangerously close to them. For Luther, the Mass was a sacrifice of praise, that is to say, an act of praise, an act of thanksgiving, but certainly not an expiatory sacrifice which renews and applies the Sacrifice of the Cross.” (pp. 23-24)

This is why Satan, Francis, and the globalists hate the Traditional Latin Mass. If we have the Traditional Latin Mass, it brings us closer to the Sacrifice of the Cross, which teaches us to detest sin and gives us the grace to resist it. And if we resist sin, ultimately we will reject all the wicked designs of Satan, Francis, and the globalists. It really is that simple.

Thus, the attack on the Cross of Christ has now led to a situation in which we cannot escape the fact that we are lost without the Cross of Christ. Just as those who depend on a medicine to sustain their health will have a greater appreciation of that fact if they are deprived of the medicine, we now see how much the world needs the Cross of Christ as those in power do all they can to eliminate it. Everything is lost without Christ, and we cannot find Him if we abandon His Cross.

God is permitting a situation in which we cannot escape suffering. That suffering will either destroy us if we fail to sanctify it, or it will be meritorious and efficacious in proportion to our efforts to unite it to the Cross.

As the world grows more demonically insane, we will continue to recognize the increased need to cling to the only remedy, the Cross of Christ. And we can find that only in the actual Catholic Church, which Francis devotes so much of his energy to destroy. As Archbishop Lefebvre described in Open Letter to Confused Catholics, it remains true (as it always will) that we will only find the Cross of Christ in the Catholic Church:

“Yet nothing, in fact, has changed; nothing can be changed in this area. Our Lord did not found a number of churches: He founded only one. There is only one Cross by which we can be saved, and that Cross has been given to the Catholic Church. It has not been given to others. To His Church, His mystical bride, Christ has given all graces. No grace in the world, no grace in the history of humanity is distributed except through her.” (p. 73)

Of course God can save souls who, through no fault of their own, do not realize they must be Catholic, but the Church has always taught that this is not the regular path to salvation. So we must reject all of the errors that infect the Conciliar Church on this matter, especially those of false ecumenism.

Beyond this, in a special way, there is evidently a great need today for faithful Catholics to truly embrace the Cross and do all they can to become saints. We see this both because the world always needs saints to raise it from the depths of sin, and because God is permitting a situation in which we cannot escape suffering. That suffering will either destroy us if we fail to sanctify it, or it will be meritorious and efficacious in proportion to our efforts to unite it to the Cross.

We know from the holy popes and saints how important the Blessed Virgin Mary is, especially in our troubled times. Devotion to the Rosary and Immaculate Heart of Mary leads us to, and keeps us near, the Cross of Christ. That is where Jesus entrusted us to His Mother’s care, and that is where we must remain as the world grows more demonically insane. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!
