Gratitude to Remnant Friends and Followers

Happy Thanksgiving from Michael Matt…

Dear Friends:

This November we celebrate the 57th anniversary of The Remnant newspaper, established by my father in 1967 – two years before the promulgation of the New Mass and two years after the close of the Second Vatican Council. Much water under the bridge since then.

On this Thanksgiving, I want to offer a quick word of thanks to The Clans all over the world – friends and allies of The Remnant who, like us, are trying to keep the Faith and survive one of the darkest times in human history.

It’s a beautiful day, and I won’t burden this audience with examples of that darkness. You know what I mean, unfortunately. And, besides, it’s not the darkness that matters but rather our mutual commitment to light candles of faith and friendship that help us find our way, together.

So, thanks so much for continuing to support The Remnant and Remnant TV. Our numbers on the independent platform you helped us build are higher than ever, which means we are no longer dependent on YouTube.

Many thanks for that and also for not giving up on our little ‘labor of love” – the print edition of The Remnant. Who said newsprint is dead! The Remnant’s newsprint edition goes to press every two weeks and, far from being in imminent decline, has increased its subscribers base all over the world.

God is good and so are you. Thank you for sticking with us.

God bless you all. Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Advent. And thank you for being the best audience/subscribers ever. I’m humbled by your loyal support.

Below is a short history of the first Thanksgiving.

In Christo Rege,
Michael J. Matt

FIRST THANKSGIVING: First Catholic Mass In America

Here’s a little “TBT” from Michael Matt’s RTV archive. An original “Remnant in the Catacombs” video done several Thanksgivings ago.

Down in The Remnant Underground, Michael J. Matt talks about the real first Thanksgiving in America, which included the first Traditional Latin Mass and took place a full 50 years before the Catholic-bashing pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.

Plus, you won’t believe the overtly Christian language used by both Samuel Adams and George Washington in the official kick-off of the national holiday–language which included reference to Jesus Christ and to personal and national repentance for our sins.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at The Remnant.
