Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

New From Remnant TV...

Michael comments on the ramifications of a traditional Catholic being invited to defend the decision to resist the errors of Pope Francis on what used to be known as 'Neo-Catholic Central' -- EWTN. Big change in the wind? Plus, Cardinal Burke says the SSPX is still in schism. Is it time to denounce one of the last cardinals in the world who’s resisting the errors of Pope Francis? Please!  Let's get real.

Francis misunderstoodA year-and-a-half later, Fastiggi and Goldstein Ride to the Rescue of Amoris Laetitia

Well, it seems the Neo-Catholic Excuse Factory is still in operation, even if the excuse-makers seem to have lost some of their usual vim and vigor due to the intellectual exhaustion involved in attempting to explain away practically everything Pope Bergoglio says and does on a daily basis. Consequently, the factory’s output of excuses is experiencing significant lag times.

In keeping with his penchant for surprises, Pope Francis brings Cardinal Burke back to the Vatican high court. According to this Associated Press report:

Francis appointed Burke as a member of the Apostolic Signatura on Saturday. Members serve as advisers to the court, which currently is headed by a longtime Vatican diplomat, Cardinal Dominique Mamberti.

Francis removed Burke as the court's prefect in 2014 and named him envoy to the Knights of Malta lay religious order. The pope then effectively sidelined Burke from that job this year after he intervened in a condom scandal that led to a governance crisis in the order.

Burke continues to work as a canon lawyer and most recently headed the Vatican sex abuse investigation of Guam's suspended archbishop. READ SOURCE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: So, what have we here? The Remnant's position on Cardinal Burke is that he's been more effective in neutralizing the errors of Pope Francis as a free agent, if you will—flitting from pillar, to post, to church basements, giving conferences and encouraging the faithful to stay strong--than when he was locked in Rome as head of the Apostolic Signatura.

Our contention has been that Cardinal Burke in exile was indirectly broadcasting his concerns all across the world, leaving everyone--even the folks at the Vatican--on tenterhooks, wondering what he'd do next.

Apparently the folks in the Vatican, starting with Pope Francis, saw it the same way. Time to rein in Cardinal Burke. Why? Well, Pope Francis knows a lot about the mafia, so let’s have Michael Corleone explain:

George Weigel has a reputation, largely among Catholics who have never read him, as a nuanced thinker on matters Catholic, uniquely in the know not only about current Church affairs but also their significance in the larger context of ecclesiastical history.  But as Weigel’s article in First Things concerning Remnant TV's "Catholics Rising" video on the upcoming Catholic Identity Conference demonstrates, his writing is too often shallow cant thinly disguised by fancy locutions.

Under the portentous title “The Transmigration of Theological Nonsense,” which seems to promise serious thought, we find little more than Weigel’s petty quibbling over a couple of Michael Matt’s remarks in the video to the effect that we ought to “take our Church back” from those who have corrupted her doctrine and praxis since Vatican II, as any Catholic who is not comatose can see. With his usual air of pseudo-professorial condescension toward the traditionalists he considers infra dig, Weigel declares: “The Church is not ‘ours’; the Church is Christ’s.” Quoting himself, Weigel adds: “the Church ‘was not created by us, or by our Christian ancestors, or by the donors to the diocesan annual fund—a point the Lord made abundantly clear himself in the gospels: ‘You did not choose me, but I chose you’…”

This just in from every major news agency in the country: Roy Moore, the "firebrand outsider", has defeated his rival, Mr. Strange, who was backed by Trump and the republican establishment. To highlight a few:

From the Washington Post: “Roy Moore Wins Alabama’s GOP Senate Primary… Alabama Republicans on Tuesday voted decisively to nominate Roy Moore, a former state Supreme Court judge, for a U.S. Senate seat, delivering a rebuke to President Donald Trump and the GOP establishment that supported his rival.” Finish the story HERE

From the New York Times: “In a race that began as something of a political afterthought and ended up showcasing the right's enduring divisions, the victory by Mr. Moore, one of the most tenacious figures in Alabama politics, will likely embolden other antiestablishment conservatives to challenge incumbent Republicans in next year's midterm elections.”  Read this story HERE

From Fox News: “The winner of the runoff will become the favorite in December's general election against Democrat Doug Jones, a lawyer and former U.S. attorney during President Bill Clinton's administration. Jones is perhaps best known for prosecuting Ku Klux Klansmen responsible for killing four black girls in the 1963 bombing of a Birmingham church.

The winner of that race will complete the Senate term started by Attorney General Jeff Sessions and be up for re-election in 2020.” Read it HERE

REMNANT COMMENT:
It should be noted that President Trump made it very clear that he would support Judge Moore if, in fact, he won this election, and that Luther Strange (Moore's opponent) did have the endorsement of the NRA and the NRL. Both candidates--Moore and Strange--spent the past couple of months tripping over themselves trying to prove their Trump cred.

So although the Far-Left loons at CNN are trying to spin this as a defeat for Trump, it must be said that this is without question a major defeat for the Far-Left. Ever since Judge Roy Moore came into the crosshairs of the notorious Southern Poverty Law Center well over a decade ago, he's been the punching bag for the pro-gay "marriage" crowd, the anti-Constitutionalists, the pro-aborts, the Ten Commandments haters and all the rest of the Christophobic legions.

But don't take my word for it. Let's go directly to Wikipedia in order to help us fully bask in the light of this monumental defeat for the radical Left:

Moore was elected to the position of Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2001, but removed from his position in November 2003 by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary for refusing to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments commissioned by him from the Alabama Judicial Building, despite orders to do so by a federal court. Moore sought the Republican nomination for the governorship of Alabama in 2006, but lost to incumbent Bob Riley in the June primary by a nearly 2-to-1 margin. He sought the Republican nomination for the office again in 2010, but placed fourth in the Republican primary.

Moore was again elected Chief Justice in 2013, but was suspended in May 2016, for directing probate judges to continue to enforce the state's ban on
same-sex marriage despite the fact that it had been overturned. Following an unsuccessful appeal, Moore resigned in April 2017, and announced that he would be running for the United States Senate seat which was vacated by Jeff Sessions, upon his confirmation as Attorney General of the United States.  He defeated incumbent senator Luther Strange in the September 26 Republican primary.

In the years preceding his first election to the state Supreme Court, Moore successfully resisted attempts to have a display of the Ten Commandments removed from the courtroom. The controversy around Moore generated national attention. Moore's supporters regard his stand as a defense of "judicial rights" and the Constitution of Alabama. Moore contended that federal judges who ruled against his actions consider "obedience of a court order superior to all other concerns, even the suppression of belief in the sovereignty of God."

After all the time and treasure the Southern Poverty Law Center spent trying to destroy this good man, it really does feel awfully nice tonight to congratulate the new senator from the great state (and home state of the SPLC) of Alabama.  Well played, Judge. Obviously, he who laughs last laughs best. So laugh it up, Your Honor. God bless you.

New from RTV...EsPZsNkEDqNHxiF 800x450 noPadA group of some 70 scholars, priests and theologians from all around the world issue a public correction of Pope Francis's seven heretical propositions as propagated in Amoris Laetitia. Michael Matt comments on this, Cardinal Burke's forthcoming formal correction, the ramifications of Bishop Bernard Fellay's signature on this correction, and the centenary of the founding of St. Maximilian Kolbe's Militia Immaculatae in Rome. What’s the connection?

At every stage in the ecclesial crisis that followed the Second Vatican Council, the Mensheviks of the Neo-Catholic Establishment (NCE) have been there to defend the Bolsheviks of the post-conciliar revolution as they foisted one destructive novelty after another upon the Church.  The NCE has found a way to defend or excuse the New Mass with all its officially approved abuses (including Communion in the hand and John Paul II’s approval of “altar girls”), the New Ecumenism, the New Dialogue, the New Interreligious Dialogue, the New Bishops’ Conferences, the New Collegiality, the New Seminaries, the New Convents, the New Ecclesial Movements, the New Evangelization, the New Synodal Church, and now, with Amoris Laetitia (AL), even the New Catholic Morality, which declares that God does not expect obedience to the negative precepts of the natural law, including the Sixth Commandment, if one feels unable to attain the “objective ideal” given the “concrete complexity of one’s limits” (cf. Amoris Laetitia, ¶ 303).

Cardinal Burke, who said in an interview with catholicoutlook.org that he privately celebrates the traditional Latin Mass, has also disclosed that the formal and public correction of Pope Francis is about to take place.

REMNANT COMMENT: He has to be careful or else he'll marginalize himself and he'll no longer be in a position to block Francis...

soros behind riots

Sometimes I think back four decades to my college years. Between grad schools, I served as assistant to conservative writer and philosopher Russell Kirk in Mecosta, Michigan. Being a Southern boy, the one significant thing I recall about the climate up there was that we had snow on the ground—and lots of it—from around Thanksgiving all the way until April. So, other than my secretarial duties for Dr. Kirk I had I plenty of time to read (the Kirks had no television). And with Russell’s library of over 30,000 books I had a bibliophile’s cornucopia at my fingertips. Not only that, he was one of the most widely read of “teachers” a young grad student could ever have.
