There he is, amidst the provocative poses of supermodels Gisele Bündchen and Gigi Hadid, between the latest fashion trends of Versace and Chanel, nestled among Saint Laurent and Prada.

The Vicar of Vogue.

In the midst of the Vatican’s greatest global child sex abuse scandal, the Vatican communication flunkies coordinate with the Leftists at Vogue Magazine, to hail the conquering hero, Pope Francis, as the champion of children!

The August Vogue issue is perfectly timed to land on the magazine stands right when the American Catholic Church is reeling from the decades long sex abuse revelations of prominent and powerful Cardinal Ted McCarrick. Is the Vatican tone deaf or simply arrogantly dismissive of the pain and shock exploding among the Catholic laity and the victims?

The personality cult of Francis the Merciful continues to dominate the left in hopes that it will surely override any of the multitude of Vatican scandals involving unrelenting clerical sexual abuse and theological abuses. As the voice of the fashionable left, Vogue ramps up the endless Francis fawning of the media global elites.

Are you sitting down? The title of the gushing hagiographic human interest story is, The Children’s Hour. Vogue editors even contracted with the famous and very pricey photographer of the stars, Annie Leibowitz to snap a few cute candids of the pontiff surrounded by, you guessed it, lots of little children. How cool of the merciful Pontiff to share his papal stage and precious time with the globalist gal pal, Leibowitz for a slick press photo op. The marketing of Francis, Inc. to the global elites demands only the best of photographers. After all, Leibowitz photographs all Bergoglio’s buddies, like George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Leo “Global Warming” DiCaprio.

Nothing like a splashing centerfold article with Francis and the kiddies to distract the public from the Vatican’s exploding cover up clerical sex scandals dominating the headlines. How endearing are these snapshots of little children enveloping the Pontiff in a love scrum. No doubt about it. Francis is the children’s Pope.

The author, Jason Horowitz, wastes no time highlighting the special relationship between Francis and the children:

“{W}hen the kids ask him questions, Francis brightens dramatically. He suddenly radiates ebullience and avuncular warmth. As a journalist who has covered Francis for years, I’ve seen this shift before—when he’s broken from sermons to share homespun wisdom or embraced a Muslim asylum seeker in a refugee camp….I knew I was in the presence of a natural.”

Oh, he’s a natural, all right. Francis masterfully plays to the cameras and the global elite mouthing support for their favorite causes of climate change, mass migration, anti-death penalty, and LGBT advocacy. Horowitz is dazzled by Francis’ “visceral humanity.” Apparently, these naive and unsophisticated elites are swayed by the staged humility of a Fiat car, a simple apartment, washing Muslim feet, all carefully orchestrated and announced for public consumption by the Vatican press office. Francis even jokes with the kids!

The mainstream media laps up the carefully choreographed Vatican productions starring the Humble One, since he deftly promotes their leftist causes. Still awestruck with the papal photo ops, with kissing babies, chatting up with children, and blessing sick infants, as if they have never seen a Pope before. The Francis Papalotry is derived from the knowledge that he is one of them.

There is nothing more dangerous than a demagogue, especially one that exploits children for his own personal power and benefit. Be assured, that this glowing Vogue feature story with very expensive photos of children was masterfully concocted and collaborated with the Vatican press office. Yes, Greg Burke and Spadaro can sip vino with Annie after the shoot, but remain conspicuously silent over the clerical sex abuse scandals involving thousands of children.

The Vogue article ends with a final, warm and fuzzy scene from the Vatican:

“And now, here he (Francis) is at the Vatican, surrounded by kids with red hats on their heads, many carrying balloons.”

Oh, yes, those red hats. When he looks out at the children in red hats, does Francis think of all the cardinals in their red hats who abused children and covered up the clerical sex abuse?

He better.

Because the Children’s Hour has arrived and is long overdue.

And this time it won’t land Francis in the pages of Vogue.

Renowned church historian, author, and president of The Lepanto Institute in Rome, Professor de Mattei, broke down the debate yesterday for LifeSiteNews:

August 3, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The lawfulness of the death penalty is a truth de fide tenenda, defined by the ordinary and universal Magisterium of the Church, in a constant and unequivocal manner. Whoever affirms that capital punishment is in itself an evil, falls into heresy.

The teaching of the Church was clearly expressed in a letter dated December 18, 1208, in which Innocent III condemned the Waldensian position with these words, reported by Denzinger:

De potestate saeculari asserimus, quod sine peccato mortali potest iudicium sanguinis exercere, dummodo ad inferendam vindictam non odio, sed iudicio, non incaute, sed consulte procedat” (Enchiridion symbolorum,definitionum et declaratium de rebus fidei et morum, edited by Peter Hünermann S.J., n. 795).

That is: “With regard to the secular power, we affirm that it can exercise a judgment of blood without mortal sin, provided that in carrying out the punishment it proceeds, not out of hatred, but judiciously, not in a precipitous manner, but with caution.” (Innocent III, DS 795/425).

The same position was reaffirmed by the Catechism of the Council of Trent (Part III, n. 328), by the Major Catechism of Saint Pius X (Part III, n. 413) and by the new Catechism of the Catholic Church (n. 2267). Pope Francis has now signed a rescript which modifies the Catechism with this new formulation:

The Church teaches, in the light of the Gospel, that ‘the death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person,’ and she works with determination for its abolition worldwide.

According to the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Luis Ladaria, the new text follows in the footsteps of the teaching of John Paul II, in the encyclical Evangelium vitae, but there is a radical difference. John Paul II, in Evangelium vitae, holds that the Church, in the current historical circumstances, ought to favor the abolition of the death penalty, but he affirms that the death penalty is not unjust per se, and the commandment “You shall not kill” has absolute value only “when it refers to the innocent person” (nos. 56-57). Pope Francis instead considers capital punishment inadmissible in itself, openly denying a truth infallibly defined by the ordinary Magisterium of the Church.

To justify this change, an appeal is made to changed sociological conditions. In Pope Francis’ rescript, it says:

Recourse to the death penalty on the part of legitimate authority, following a fair trial, was long considered an appropriate response to the gravity of certain crimes and an acceptable, albeit extreme, means of safeguarding the common good.Today, however, there is an increasing awareness that the dignity of the person is not lost even after the commission of very serious crimes. In addition, a new understanding has emerged of the significance of penal sanctions imposed by the state. Lastly, more effective systems of detention have been developed, which ensure the due protection of citizens but, at the same time, do not definitively deprive the guilty of the possibility of redemption.

However, the notion of “human dignity” does not change depending on historical times and circumstances, just as the moral significance of justice and punishment does not change. Pius XII explains that when the State resorts to the death penalty, it does not claim to be the master of human life, but only recognizes that the criminal, through a kind of moral suicide, has deprived himself of the right to life. According to Pope Pius XII:

Even when it comes to the execution of one sentenced to death, the State does not dispose of the individual’s right to life. It is then reserved to the public authority to deprive the condemned of the ‘good’ of life, in expiation of his fault, after he has deprived himself of his ‘right’ to life for his crime. (Address to Participants in the International Histopathology of the Nervous System Conference, Sunday, September 14, 1952, n. 28)

For their part, theologians and moralists over the centuries, from St. Thomas Aquinas to St. Alphonsus de Liguori, have explained how the death penalty is  justified not only by the need to protect the community, but also has a retributive character, in that it restores a violated moral order, and an expiatory value, as with the death of the Good Thief, which united him to the supreme sacrifice of Our Lord. 

Pope Francis’ new rescript expresses that theological evolutionism, condemned by Saint Pius X in Pascendi, and by Pius XII in Humani generis, which has nothing to do with the homogeneous development of doctrine treated of by Cardinal John Henry Newman. The condition for the development of dogma is, in fact, that the new theological statements do not contradict the previous teaching of the Church, but limit themselves to making it explicit and deepening it.

Finally, as in the case of the condemnation of contraception, we are not dealing here with theological opinions that may legitimately be debated, but with moral truths that belong to the Depositum fidei, and that therefore must be accepted in order to remain Catholic. We hope that theologians and the Pastors of the Church will intervene as soon as possible to publicly correct this latest grave error of Pope Francis.

The Bishop's Introduction:

A Catholic bishop has the grave moral duty to raise his voice and take a stand regarding the phenomenon of ‘gay pride’ parades. There is a systematic spread of ‘gay pride’ parades throughout the entire Western world. Furthermore, one can also see a growing support for the ‘gay pride’ phenomenon among representatives of the Catholic clergy. At the same time, there is a widespread situation of silence, passivity and fear among those in the Church who should unambiguously address this situation and protect the life of the Church from the infiltration of the poison of the ideology of homosexuality and gender, and proclaim the truth of God’s creation and of His holy commandments.

The correct Catholic response to “Gay Pride” events

In recent decades, “gay pride” parades started spreading through cities of the Western world. The clear objective of this constantly growing phenomenon is to take over the town squares of all the cities of the western world and, in the long term, the cities of the entire world, with the exception of Islamic countries because of fear of predictable violent counter-reactions.

These demonstrations are carried out with enormous financial and logistical commitments, accompanied by propaganda supported by the most influential powers of public life, namely political elites, social media and powerful economic and financial bodies. Such unanimous support on the part of these public bodies was typical of historical totalitarian systems in order to impose a certain ideology on society. The so-called “gay pride” demonstrations unmistakably resemble the propaganda marches of various totalitarian political regimes of the past. 

However, there is one very important voice in public life that has not yet officially, or to a large extent, joined this unanimous chorus of support for so-called “gay pride” parades. This voice is that of the Catholic Church. The totalitarianism of homosexualist gender ideology is pursuing its most ambitious goal, which is to conquer the last bastion of resistance, i.e. the Catholic Church. 

In the meantime, this goal has unfortunately been in some way achieved, since it has been observed that an increasing number of priests, and even some bishops and cardinals, publicly express in various ways their support for these totalitarian marches, called “gay pride.” These priests, bishops and cardinals thereby become agents and promoters of an ideology that represents a direct offense to God and to the dignity of the human person, created male and female, created in the image and likeness of God.

Gender ideology, or the ideology of homosexuality, represents a revolt against the creative work of God, which is so admirably wise and loving. It is a revolt against the creation of the human being in both sexes — male and female — which are necessarily and wonderfully complementary. Homosexual or lesbian acts profane the male or female body, which is the temple of God. In fact, the Holy Spirit says, “If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and that temple you are” (1 Cor 3:17). The Holy Spirit declares in Sacred Scripture that homosexual acts are ignominious, since they are contrary to nature as it was created by God: “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct” (Rom 1:26-28). The Holy Spirit then declares that persons who commit gravely sinful acts, including homosexual acts, will not inherit eternal life: “Do not be deceived: neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor 6:9-10). 

Yet the grace of Christ has such a power that it transforms an idolater, an adulterer, or a practicing homosexual into a new man. The quoted text from the Word of God goes on to say: “And such were some of you [idolaters, adulterers, sodomites]! But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God" (1 Cor 6:11). Faced with this truth and reality about grace, the light of hope and true progress shines brightly on the anti-Divine and anti-human scene of the ideology and practice of homosexuality; that is, the hope and real possibility that a person who performs homosexual acts can be transformed into a new man, created in the truth of holiness: “You did not so learn Christ! —assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus. Put off your old nature which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Eph 4:20-24). These words of God are the only message worthy of hope and liberation that a Christian, and even more so a priest and a bishop, should offer people who perform homosexual acts or propagate gender ideology.

The totalitarianism and intolerance of gender ideology, by their own logic, also requires totalitarian adherence. All sectors of society, including the Catholic Church, must therefore be obliged to express somehow their acceptance of this ideology. One of the most widespread and concrete public means for imposing this ideology lies in the so-called “gay pride” parades.

It cannot be ruled out that the Catholic Church, in the not too distant future, will be faced with a situation similar to the situation of persecution by the Roman Empire in the first three centuries, when adherence to the totalitarian ideology of idolatry was also obligatory for Christians. At that time, the test or verification of such adherence consisted in the civil and politically correct act of burning several grains of incense in front of the statue of an idol or of the emperor.

Today, instead of burning several grains of incense, the gesture of solidarity with the “gay pride” parades is offered through a warm welcome from clergy and even through a special prayer service in support of the alleged rights to homosexual activities and to the spread of their ideology. We are witnessing an incredible scenario, in which some priests and even bishops and cardinals, without blushing, are already offering grains of incense to the idol of homosexuality or gender ideology, to the applause of the powerful ones of this world, that is, to the applause of politicians, social media giants and powerful international organizations.

What is the correct response of a Christian, a Catholic, a priest and a bishop to the so-called “gay pride” phenomenon?

In the first place, one must proclaim with charity the Divine truth about the creation of the human person, proclaim the truth of the objective psychological and sexual disorder of homosexual tendencies, and then talk about the truth concerning needed and discreet help for people with homosexual tendencies, so that they receive care and liberation from their psychological disability.

Then one must also proclaim the Divine truth about the gravely sinful character of homosexual acts and of the homosexual lifestyle, since they are offensive to God’s will. One must proclaim with truly fraternal concern the Divine truth about the danger of the eternal loss of the souls of practicing and unrepentant homosexuals. 

In addition, by showing civil courage and using all peaceful and democratic means available, one must protest against contempt for Christian convictions and against the public display of degrading obscenities. One must protest against the imposition — on the populations of entire cities and towns — of marches characterized by political-ideological militancy.

The most important thing, however, lies in the spiritual means. The most powerful and precious response is expressed in public and private acts of reparation to the Divine holiness and majesty, so gravely and publicly offended by so-called “gay pride” parades.

Inseparable from acts of reparation is fervent prayer for the conversion and eternal salvation of the souls of the promoters and activists of homosexual ideology, and especially of the souls of the pitiable people who practice homosexuality.

May the following words of the Supreme Pontiffs strengthen the correct Catholic response to the so-called “gay pride” phenomenon.

Pope John Paul II protested against the “gay pride” parade in Rome, in 2000, saying:

I feel obliged, now, to mention the well-known [gay pride] demonstrations held in Rome in the past few days. In the name of the Church of Rome I can only express my deep sadness at … the offense to the Christian values of a city that is so dear to the hearts of Catholics throughout the world. The Church cannot be silent about the truth, because she would fail in her fidelity to God the Creator and would not help to distinguish good from evil. (Angelus address, July 9, 2000)

The reigning Pontiff, Pope Francis, has on various occasions warned of the danger of gender ideology, when for example, he said:

You, Irina, mentioned a great enemy to marriage today: the theory of gender. Today there is a world war to destroy marriage. Today there are ideological colonizations which destroy, not with weapons, but with ideas. Therefore, there is a need to defend ourselves from ideological colonizations. (Meeting with priests, religious, seminarians and pastoral workers, Tbilisi, October 1, 2016)

On another occasion, he said:

We are experiencing a moment of the annihilation of man as the image of God. I would like to conclude with this aspect, since behind all this there are ideologies. In Europe, America, Latin America, Africa, and in some countries of Asia, there are genuine forms of ideological colonization taking place. And one of these – I will call it clearly by its name – is [the ideology of] ‘gender’. Today children – children! – are taught in school that everyone can choose his or her sex. Why are they teaching this? Because the books are provided by the persons and institutions that give you money. These forms of ideological colonization are also supported by influential countries. And this is terrible! In a conversation with Pope Benedict, who is in good health and very perceptive, he said to me: ‘Holiness, this is the age of sin against God the Creator’. He is very perceptive. God created man and woman; God created the world in a certain way… and we are doing the exact opposite. God gave us things in a ‘raw’ state, so that we could shape a culture; and then with this culture, we are shaping things that bring us back to the ‘raw’ state! Pope Benedict’s observation should make us think. ‘This is the age of sin against God the Creator’. (Meeting with the Polish Bishops on the occasion of the XXXI World Youth Day, Krakow, July 27, 2016)

The true friends of people who promote and perform degrading actions during so-called “gay pride” parades are Christians who say:

I will not burn even one grain of incense before the idol of homosexuality and gender theory, even if — God forbid! — my parish priest or my bishop should do so.

I will make private and public acts of reparation and offer intercessory prayers for the eternal salvation of the souls of all those who promote and practice homosexuality.

I will not be afraid of the new ideological-political totalitarianism of gender theory, for Christ is with me. And since Christ has conquered all the totalitarian systems of the past, He will also conquer the totalitarianism of gender ideology in our own day.

Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat!

Any person claiming to be a traditional Catholic, and yet criticizing Bishop Athanasius Schneider for doing this or for not doing that, should be dismissed as a rank interloper who can in no sense identify with the likes of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, Michael Davies, and other pioneers of this movement who would have embraced Bishop Schneider as a gift from God.

As one who's been in the fight for Catholic restoration all his life, I do not hesitate to publicly thank God for this man and to pledge The Remnant's prayer and unconditional support for his work. Please, God, guide and protect him, and Mary keep. MJM

For whatever reason, Putin's wised up to the importance of Christianity, and Russia's better for it: 

MOSCOW (AP) – Vladimir Putin says the adoption of Christianity more than 1,000 years ago in territory that later became Russia marked the starting point for forming the Russian nation itself.

President Putin’s comments came Saturday in a ceremony marking the 1,030th anniversary of the adoption by Christianity by Prince Vladimir, the leader of Kievan Rus, a loose federation of Slavic tribes that preceded the Russian state.

Speaking to thousands of clergy and believers at a huge statue of the prince outside the Kremlin, Putin said adopting Christianity was “the starting point for the formation and development of Russian statehood, the true spiritual birth of our ancestors, the determination of their identity. Identity, the flowering of national culture and education.”

 

REMNANT COMMENT: I really don’t care what the vociferous critics of Vladimir Putin think they know about all the nefarious, KGB shenanigans the President of Russia may or may not be up to. The bottom line is this: if it's now politically beneficial for Russia’s head of state to "pretend" to be an advocate of Christianity, I'd say let it ride.

Besides, at this point I'll take my chances with this guy over almost any of the actual demons running the "free countries" of the former Christendom. We know exactly what they are, and the day they celebrate the fact that Europe was formed by Christianity will be the day hell freezes over.

SSPX PRESS RELEASE:

The General Chapter of the SSPX has elected two additional Assistants General to serve on the Council of the Superior General, Father Davide Pagliarani, in accordance with the common law of the Church.

They are Bishop Bernard Fellay, former Superior General (1994-2018) and Father Franz Schmidberger, former Superior General (1982-1994) and currently Director of the Herz Jesu Seminary in Zaitzkofen (Germany).

 

Remnant Comment: While this development may well prove to be a good thing, at first glance it is somewhat confusing.  From the vantage point of an outside observer, it looks something like a general manager of a baseball team announcing his intention to keep his two previous baseball managers knocking around the front office to "advise" the new guy on how to establish a different style of leadership.  Bit awkward for everyone. Keep them around if you want, but why make the big announcement that seems to send mixed signals? 

Without wishing to take anything away from the good job done by either of these men in the past, I'm sure the SSPX leadership can appreciate why some traditional Catholics are a bit apprehensive over this announcement, since they were looking forward to the fresh approach of a 'new coaching staff' rather than an apparent reshuffling effort that may mean 'business as usual' when it comes to a whole host of problems blamed, fairly or not, on the previous 'coaching staff.' And this includes ardent supporters of Bishop Fellay, who only want what is best for the Society. 

The SSPX General Chapter is still in session, by the way, and therefore this brief observation is meant only in a constructive sense-- as merely the initial reaction of just one member of the Catholic press, while there may still be time to amend or clarify. 

Whatever happens, let's redouble our prayers for the SSPX--a crucial player in the Catholic restoration movement--and let us pray for the success of their General Chapter.

LifeSiteNews recently quoted a spokesperson from the diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, who said that choosing to support LGBT is a decision for each parish to make on its own. At least one parish, "historic " St. Paul Catholic Church, is already proudly flaunting the rainbow on their property, with the message of acceptance and love for all.

According to a NewWaysMinistry report, Fr. Chris Clay, a priest at St. Paul, said the banner is “a small way of counteracting any experiences of hostility, rejection, and silent treatment that LGBTQ Catholics may have experienced.”

An ecstatic parishioner named Stan quipped in a TV spot, “Our LGBTQ sisters and brothers should not be afraid to come in here, will not feel judged, will not feel as though they’re trampling on territory that isn’t theirs."

It’s no surprise that old Stan is excited about this, since he’s the overzealous executive director of Fortunate Families, a pro-LGBT “Catholic” organization which regularly posts blasphemous images such as a gay man crowned with thorns and bleeding rainbow colors, or Our Lady wrapped in the rainbow flag. But what does Lexington’s bishop have to say about it?

Well, Bishop John Stowe was one of five bishops to endorse Fr. Jimmy Martin’s pro-LGBT book, “Building a Bridge”--so how do you think he feels about it?

While celebrating anomalies like St. Paul and a few more in the New York Tri-City area, as well as in California, NewWays lamented that many Catholics aren’t on board yet with LGBT inclusion:

Globally, however, Catholic views on LGBT inclusion and Pride remain on a spectrum. While societal acceptance of the LGBTQ community ramps up in many places, church leadership and more conservative Catholics steadfastly hold on to negative teachings on sexuality and gender. This year, the Catholic bishop of Providence, Rhode Island, discouraged parishes and individual Catholics from participating in Pride events. LGBTQ Catholics have become accustomed to not being welcomed in the Church, turned away or ostracized for their sexuality and/or gender identity. But change is needed because having a spiritual home is important to so many people, especially to LGBTQ Catholics.

REMNANT COMMENT: An alcoholic goes to the local Alcoholics Anonymous group and says, “Hello, my name is Steve, and I’m a proud alcoholic with no intention of quitting... ever. So, a spiritual home is important to unrepentant serial sodomites?  Terrific!  But then why did they choose a Church whose infallible, constant and unchanging moral teaching includes the following:

Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex... Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2357)

Under no circumstances…except for those evidently dreamed up by Bishop John Stowe and his team down in Lexington, which think parishes can do whatever they want in this regard.

Even Pope John Paul The GREAT's Vatican clarified the Church's teaching on October 31, 1986, in the “Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons”:

Although the particular inclination of the homosexual person is not a sin, it is a more or less strong tendency ordered toward an intrinsic moral evil; thus the inclination itself must be seen as an objective disorder. Therefore special concern and pastoral attention should be directed to those who have this condition, lest they be led to believe that the living out of this orientation in homosexual activity is a morally acceptable option. It is not.

Unless Bishop John Stowe of Lexington says it is, since Bishop John is evidently a magisterium unto himself that can allow parishes to follow their own rules willy-nilly.

But didn’t you get that memo, Bishop John? The Letter doesn’t say, “Let the practicing homosexuals have a spiritual home among your faithful.” So, you don’t feel the need to enforce the Church's infallible teaching? The buck stops with you, then?

Question for Bishop John: If you begin allowing parishes in your diocese to recklessly disregard the infallible teaching of the Church, where exactly does it stop?  The Catholic Church also teaches that masturbation is a mortal sin of the flesh. Do you think maybe St. Paul's should put a sign out in the yard there in front of the church saying: “Masturbators Welcome: This is an inclusive community?”

If not, why not?

How about the Bestiality community? Don’t they deserve a spiritual home, Bishop John? Nobody gets hurt. They just wanna marry their German Shepherds. What’s the big deal?  Are you ready to welcome them, too?  If not, aren't you yourself a bit of an intolerant bigot?

And philanderers?  Wife swappers? They get consent for what they do, too.  No victims there, right? So shouldn't St. Paul's put a sign in the churchyard for those fellows, too?

PHILANDERERS, FAMILY FRIENDS, and ALLIES ARE ALL WELCOME!

Or! Maybe the Church could stop humiliating herself by stooping to accommodate a crowd that obviously doesn't care about her or the moral code by which she governs.

Maybe if our LGBTQ+ the Alphabet friends truly think that a spiritual home is so important they could consider following the rules like everybody else.

And if they find that’s too difficult—that for them being a part of the Catholic Church means breaking the rules of the Catholic Church--how about they go find a spiritual home more to their liking? The Anglicans and Lutherans, for example—those cats are certainly down with the rainbow and My Little Pony crowd.

Just a thought!

Because this isn’t fair to anyone.  Some people have to follow the rules of the Church while others don't? How's that supposed to work? This isn't our fault. We don't make the rules. God does! But, according to Bishop John, whether to follow the rules of the Church or not should be left up to individuals.

If our Alphabet friends are still unclear about the Church's rules on this, perhaps the recently canonized pope--St John Paul II—might be able to help.

In his 2005 book Memory and Identity, John Paul referred to homosexuality as an “ideology of evil,” insisting of so-called 'gay marriage' that:

“It is legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this is not perhaps part of a new ideology of evil, perhaps more insidious and hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family and man.”

Was Pope John Paul THE GREAT an intolerant homophobe?  If so, can't the same be said of the man who canonized him? Surely, Pope (Who Am I To Judge) Francis isn't a homophobe, is he?

I may be going out on a limb here, but something tells me the Catholic Church, with all of her prohibitions against homosexual acts, may not be the best fit for our Alphabet friends--even if Bishop John says otherwise.

Come to think of it, who cares what Bishop John says. This guy is so uncharitable he can't even be bothered to inform his faithful that according to the Church's own infallible teaching, everlasting damnation is the price to be paid for his brand of inclusivity and toleration.

Ah, but you see the good bishop must be thinking of chaste homosexuals. Yes, that must be it!

But if that is so then what's the problem? We're all sinners. The Church already accepts repentant homosexuals as they are, just as she accepts repentant practitioners of ANY sins of the flesh. All our Alphabet friends have to do is make a good confession and BOOM! Problem solved.

Surely the good Bishop of Lexington knows this.

So we’re getting a load of Barbara Streisand here, aren’t we Your Excellency? What you’re actually closing an episcopal eye to are the folks who want to keep right on sinning--and sinning proudly. Aren’t you? And that’s a violation of everything you supposedly believe in as a Catholic priest. So you, too, it would seem, are in the wrong Church. Maybe you, too, should find another "faith community",  before you scandalize the hell out of this one.

Honestly, it’s brutally homophobic for a bishop to lie to the gay community about something like this, and to risk their immortal souls merely so that he might be perceived as politically correct. That's a genuine hate crime!

Surely, the Vatican will remove this derelict shepherd immediately, before he endangers the souls of any more of his faithful.

Yes, surely----just as soon as hell freezes over.

FSSP Announces New Superior General

From the General Chapter of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter:

Our Lady of Guadalupe International Seminary in Denton, Nebraska, elected today in plenary session Fr. Andrzej Komorowski as Superior General for 6 years.

A Polish priest born in 1975, Fr. Andrzej Komorowski joined St. Peter’s International Seminary in Wigratzbad after studying economics at the University of Poznań (Poland). Ordained a priest in June 2006 by H. E. Jorge Cardinal Medina Estévez, he ministered in various apostolates of the Fraternity in Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands. Elected Assistant of the Superior General at the 2012 General Chapter, he held that position at the Fraternity’s General House in Fribourg (Switzerland) whilst fulfilling the duties of General Bursar and frequently providing ministry to the faithful in French-speaking Switzerland.

While we congratulate our old friend, Fr. John Berg, on a job exceedingly well done, and wish him every blessing, we at The Remnant welcome this news, and would like to congratulate Fr. Komorowski on his appointment. We are praying for the success of his tenure and ask God to bless the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter.

SSPX Announces New Superior General

On July 11, 2018, Father Davide Pagliarani was elected Superior General, for a mandate of 12 years, by the 4th General Chapter of the Society of Saint Pius X.

The new Superior General is 47 years old and is of Italian nationality. He received the sacrament of Holy Orders from the hands of Bishop Bernard Fellay in 1996. He exercised his apostolate in Rimini (Italy), then in Singapore, before being appointed Superior of the District of Italy. Since 2012, he was Rector of Our Lady Co-Redemptrix Seminary of La Reja (Argentina).

While we congratulate Bishop Bernard Fellay on a job exceedingly well done, and wish him every blessing, we at The Remnant welcome this news, and would like to congratulate Fr. Pagliarani on his appointment. We are praying for the success of his tenure and ask God to bless the Society of Saint Pius X in this pivotal moment in their history. Archbishop Lefebvre, pray for us.
