Robert Morrison | Remnant Columnist
Francis’s May 19, 2022 interview with the editors of European Jesuit Journals provided yet another indication that Vatican II is still one of the most vital matters in the Church, and by extension, the world:
“Restorationism has come to gag the Council. The number of groups of ‘restorers’ – for example, in the United States there are many – is significant. . . . There are ideas, behaviors that arise from a restorationism that basically did not accept the Council. The problem is precisely this: in some contexts the Council has not yet been accepted. It is also true that it takes a century for a Council to take root. We still have forty years to make it take root, then!”
Seldom, if ever, has there been a more distressing and dangerous time in human history. Those who control the world’s wealth, governments, militaries, media, and education systems have embraced rampant immorality, attacks on family life, medical tyranny, and an unprecedented attack on truth that is fittingly embodied by the rise of transgenderism throughout the world’s “most advanced” societies. Tragically, all of this pales in comparison with the ongoing corruption within the Catholic Church.
As Christopher Ferrara described in his 2009 article in The Remnant, Fatima and Akita: A Fateful Concurrence, we have good reason to believe that the (still hidden) Third Secret of Fatima includes “essentially the same” message that Our Lady delivered in 1973 to Sister Agnes Sasagawa, in Akita, Japan:
In his April 14, 2021 article, War in Hell: “Wollt Ihr den Totalen Krieg?”, Dr. John Rao described the “Total War” that Satan and his Axis of Evil are now waging against us:
“The Axis of Evil dominating us today is a band of criminal terrorists. It knows what it has done and what it still intends to do. More importantly, it knows that people like you and I also know what it has done and what it still intends to do: create Hell on Earth. It knows that we will fight against it until the bitter end, and that, should our victory be achieved, we would bring its members before a new Nuremberg Tribunal for its Crimes Against Humanity. Whether Fauci or Gates would be the first at the docket I am still uncertain. Take your pick. Still, the criminal horde knows that it is either ‘us’ or ‘them’, and to prevent us from winning it requires that it wage a Total War.”
This is both the most important and least appreciated aspect of the current crisis: the Axis of Evil wants to create Hell on Earth and has passed the point of no return. They will never actually retreat.
“Our final end is that of Voltaire and of the French Revolution, the destruction forever of Catholicism and even of the Christian idea which, if left standing on the ruins of Rome, would be the resuscitation of Christianity later on. . . . The work which we have undertaken is not the work of a day, nor of a month, nor of a year. It may last many years, a century perhaps, but in our ranks the soldier dies and the fight continues.” — Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita
Although Pope Pius IX attested to the veracity of the secret papers of the Alta Vendita in 1861, it was only with the Second Vatican Council, one hundred years later, that the Freemasonic plots began to yield tangible fruits in abundance. Even then, though, most of the world’s bishops had no idea that the Church’s enemies had breached its defenses.
On December 26, 1957, Fr. Augustin Fuentes (postulator for the causes of beatification of the Fatima seers, Francisco and Jacinta) interviewed Sister Lucia, the eldest Fatima seer. As Fr. Karl Stehlin describes in his Fatima: The Great Secret of Fatima (volume III), the progressive authorities in Rome soon thereafter sought to discredit Fr. Fuentes and his interview, which should give us some indication of its importance today:
“Why then such a strong reaction to this text? First, this text placed Sister Lucia among the prophets of doom whom John XXIII condemned in his speech at the opening of the council. The Pope, therefore, must not have liked what she was saying. Regardless . . . Sr. Lucia revealed certain details of the Third Secret in this interview.”
“Nothing is done in the world that does not relate to our Lord; it is either for Him or against Him, with Him or without Him. Our Lord is the key to the solution of all the problems. There are none here below that are indifferent to our Lord. Men try in vain to work without reference to our Lord, but it is impossible because our Lord is everywhere. He created everything; therefore everything is in His hands. Everything belongs to Him, nothing is outside of Him. Men seek to evade Him, but they cannot because everything is His.”
“And when He was come to the place, He said to them: pray, lest ye enter into temptation. And He was withdrawn away from them a stone’s cast, and kneeling down He prayed. Saying: Father, if thou wilt, remove this chalice from Me, but yet not My will, but Thine be done. And there appeared to Him an angel from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony He prayed the longer. And His sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground.” (Luke 22:40-44)
Along with Archbishop Fulton Sheen, Frank Sheed was one of the most prominent Catholic writers whose work spanned the years before and after Vatican II. We still find his works in the catalogs of several publishers of traditional Catholic books. What, though, did he think of the changes flowing from Vatican II? Would we consider him a traditional Catholic, or rather a hidden enemy of the Catholic Church?
In his 1969 book Is It the Same Church?, Sheed provided a striking description of the changes that had taken place in the wake of Vatican II:
“Consider how things would strike a Catholic wrecked in 1957 on a desert island and only just now brought home. His Catholic friends have him in their houses. In all of them he finds the conversation beyond him. It circles, sometimes heatedly, around two words which mean nothing to him — Ecumenism and the Pill. . . . The weeks that follow are full of shocks. The priest facing the congregation takes some getting used to. And the Mass in English even more.”
When the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the children of Fatima over one hundred years ago, there were many problems in the world, but rampant heresy within the Church was not one of them. Whereas today almost the entire Church hierarchy has at least tacitly accepted the proliferation of the most baneful lies to ever be preached from Catholic pulpits — that all Protestant religions please God; that hell might be empty; and that all souls may go to heaven — Our Lady of Fatima appeared at a time when Catholics knew that they must be good Catholics to save their souls.
At that time, Catholics who loved God and their neighbors tried to encourage each other to always consider the “four last things”: death, judgment, hell, and heaven. A brief excerpt from Fr. Martin von Cochen’s 1899 book The Four Last Things emphasizes why we must live our lives with our last end in mind:
“How many are now in Hell, who for a time were remarkable for their piety and virtue, but who gradually grew careless in the service of God, and finally fell into mortal sin and died without having become reconciled with God. Even the great St. Teresa was in danger of damnation, for God showed her the place destined for her in Hell, if she did not give up certain faults.”
Who benefits from the wolves’ “merciful” attempts to broaden the path to heaven?
If even pious Catholics can fall into sin and go to hell where they will suffer eternal torments, we can see why the Church always sought to encourage souls to stay close to the sacraments and far from occasions of sin.
