The Remnant Will Never Forget

The Remnant devotes this section of our exclusively to testimonies by those who lived through the revolution of the Second Vatican Council.

This page is reserved for those who saw what happened, or heard what happened from those who did,  and who truly understand how Catholic families were blown apart. Visitors who have personal reflections, or memories of traditionalists pioneers, or reminicences of the revolution are encouraged to tell their stories and share their pictures here. . . so that we will never forget.

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

Over at Stream.org, John Zmirak has an interesting article on the latest Planned Parenthood outrage that includes a veritable schooling of Mark Shea: "Catholic writer Mark Shea is leading the charge against Planned Parenthood’s critics. On July 21, Shea condemned the Center for Medical Progress in an online Catholic radio broadcast, where he also said that families sheltering Jews during the Holocaust would have sinned by deceiving the Nazis who hunted those Jews. At 35:30 he quipped, “The issue is not and never has been figuring out how to lie well; the issue is figuring out how to hide your Jews well.” Then he chortled heartily.

"Curiously, Shea has no previous track record of condemning the use of deception by police trapping pedophiles, CIA operatives fighting terrorism, or animal rights activists infiltrating factory farms. But over several years, Shea has spilled tens of thousands of words denouncing pro-life investigative reporters who infiltrated Planned Parenthood, even alleging that these pro-lifers had endangered their immortal souls by “tempting” professional abortionists into sin. You see, the prolife investigators of Live Action, including Lila Rose, showed up at abortion clinics and made fake appointments, trying to see if the clinics were willing to violate relevant laws. According to Shea, Rose was playing the evil temptress by doing that, urging someone to sin … because they intended to give her an abortion, so they sinned as gravely as a murderer who shoots but misses. She “tempted” them to do that, so she is just as guilty. Really?"  READ ARTICLE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Really? I always knew Mark Shea prided himself on carrying water for liberals and "progressives" inside the Catholic Church.  But now it begins to appear that liberals anywhere and everywhere can expect to benefit from Mark's peculiar style of brown-nosing should Mr. “I’m So Much More Reasonable Than Thooooose Guys” Shea see an opportunity. Like Donald Trump trying to split political hairs yesterday by defending "certain aspects" of PP "important work for women's health", will Mark actually carry water, albeit in Dixie cups in this case, for Planned Parenthood if it means more thumbs up on his blog? Surely not! So what's this all about? We're all at war with the Culture of Death, right? So why the need to go all school marm against the folks who ripped the mask off the diabolical Planned Parenthood?  Because they supposedly lied? Really, so that venial sin means the expose itself is inadmissible and evil. Puh-leeze! Besides, the Church's teaching on making false statements, mental reservation, and deception is way more nuanced than Shea evidently realizes.

Readers may recall The Remnant being listed as a “hate group” back in 2006 by the fine folks in the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate-free zone down in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a far-Left fundraising juggernaut that has about as much to do with ending poverty in America as Al Sharpton has to do with ending racism in America.

Its founder, Morris Dees,  dubed the 'King of Fearmongers' by the Weekly Standard in 2013, was accused by Washington Times editor, Wesley Pruden, of being “nothing more than a scam artist”, and even his Wikipedia entry includes that Dees has been dismissed as “a con man and fraud”, who “has taken advantage of naive, well-meaning people–some of moderate or low incomes–who believe his pitches and give to his $175-million operation.”

Pagan Gaia Goes to Mass (Vatican II & the New World Order)

What in the world is going on?  Praying to the Goddess Gaia at MASS?

You know, twentieth century popes, saints, even the Mother of God warned that something was very wrong with Vatican II.  Michael Matt wonders why Catholics must still swear fidelity to the massively failed experiment in novelty called the Second Vatican Council whose evil spirit seems to be paving the way for a Catholic-free New World Order.

christians in iraqCatholics in Iraq have lost everything--their lives, their children, homes, businesses, personal effects, everything! Who's next?

Following the disastrous “gay marriage” decision of the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges, all informed faithful Catholics understand that the time of persecution has begun. We now fully expect the merciless hands of runaway secularism, both governmental and societal, to treat Christians with every cruelty possible. What they may not realize is that there are other forms of persecution and persecutors that may well come for faithful Catholics, one of which is a persecution by the Church itself.

By now, those of us paying attention know that, using the gay marriage decision as the tip of the spear, militant secularists, atheists, and statists will do everything they can to force Christians to capitulate to the depraved zeitgeist or be driven from public life. We know that government cannot invent rights without taking away other real rights; in this case, the right to the free exercise of our religion.

Persecution Rising

By:

You know what? I get it. I really do get the outrage over a Minnesota dentist’s $50,000 vanity kill of Cecil the Lion. With elaborate measures in place for his protection, the dentist finished Cecil off with a rifle after ineptly wounding him with a compound bow, which left the animal bleeding for days as the intrepid hunter and his professional guides tracked it down. Then he hacked off the beast’s head so he could take it home and mount it in his study.

A fair fight, if you please! A man-versus-beast, put-your-life-on-the line, kill-or-be-killed sort of encounter with the wild. That is what we imagine big game hunting to be: an extreme sport for those who crave killing a beast that at least has a realistic chance of killing them (the mortally sinful nature of such daredevil sports aside). Or, more nobly, the defense of people against a predator on the loose in a human community. But not this mode of hunting: an elaborate Disney World-style thrill ride, the illusion of danger in a cocoon of safety with a moneyed vulgarian’s ultimate souvenir waiting at the end. Lured into the open with tasty bait, Cecil, a celebrity lion used to friendly relations with humans in the Zimbabwean wildlife preserve from which he was lured, walked cooperatively into the hands of his killers.

This from The St. Louis Review--the official archdiocesan newspaper of St. Louis, MO: 'Mysterium tremendum' | St. Barnabas begins offering the Traditional Latin Mass...

With a single intoning of the bell, Mass had begun at St. Barnabas. But this was no Ordinary Form of the Mass.

"In Nomine Patris, et Filii et Spiritus Sancti ..."

For the first time in nearly 50 years, the Extraordinary Form of the Mass -- better known as the Traditional or Tridentine Latin Mass -- is being celebrated at the northern O'Fallon parish. In January, Father Raymond Hager began offering the Mass at 10 a.m. on Sundays, after a group of parishioners wrote a letter last January requesting it.

At one of the first Masses, the pews in the modest church were about three quarters full with at least 300 people -- the church seats about 450; the parking lot was nearly filled to capacity. There was a mixture of young and old, middle-aged -- some who had lived in the boundaries of St. Barnabas but attended the Latin Mass at other churches, and some who were new or had not participated in this form of the Mass since before the Second Vatican Council. Some had come from nearby communities including Warrenton, Millwood and Wright City.

"At the first Mass, people had tears in their eyes," said Father Hager. He said that all of this is "directed toward God and what's called the 'mysterium tremendum,' or the tremendous mystery. The sense of the sacred, and the mystery of God becoming present in His most sacred Body and Blood is proclaimed profoundly in and through the Extraordinary Form of the Mass.  READ STORY HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Our apologies for missing this encouraging development in St. Louis which was reported in a glorious St. Louis Review centerfold lift-out supplement back in February. Great news is great news, even when it's yesterday's.

Congratulations to Father Raymond Hager and all of our brothers and sisters at St. Barnabas!

Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat!  Exaudi, Christe. Ecclesiae Sanctae Dei salus perpetua. Redemptor mundi, Tu illam  adjuva!

This from USAToday: Explosions about a half hour apart shattered the serenity of morning services at two Las Cruces churches Sunday, but caused no injuries and only minor damage, police said.

Las Cruces police spokesman Dan Trujillo said they are still investigating explosions that happened near Calvary Baptist Church shortly after 8 a.m. and Holy Cross Catholic Church about a half hour later.

The first explosive device went off at about 8:20 a.m. in a mailbox on a wall near the administrative entrance to Calvary Baptist.  According to police, several worshippers were inside the church at the time, but services hadn’t started.

Debris was scattered around the mailbox. "Right now, there's just a lot of paper shreds," Las Cruces police Sgt. Robert Gutierrez said Sunday morning.

The next blast came from a trash can outside Holy Cross Catholic at about 8:40 a.m. as Monsignor John Anderson was helping pass Communion. The bomb exploded just outside the front glass doors, shattering the thick glass…

Sunday services for later in the day were cancelled at both churches as police blocked off the streets to allow bomb-sniffing dogs to search the premises.

The Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad, New Mexico State Police, and an NMSU canine unit are all assisting in the investigation, as are federal officials with the FBI and ATF, Trujillo said. READ MORE

REMNANT COMMENT: As unfortunate as this is, obviously there’s no cause for alarm. After all, no LGBT properties were bombed, no abortion clinics, no mosques—just Christian churches, and the government would like to see all those shut down eventually anyway.

I wonder if the Southern Poverty Law Center had these two churches on their hate map, not that there would be any connection if they had. Just curious. I'm sure the old SPLC will be working night and day tracking down the haters who bombed these two Christian churches....yeah, right!

Speaking of things to come for Christians in America, don’t miss Patrick Archbold’s sobering new article in the print - and e-edition of The Remnant: “Persecution Rising”

You know, there are times when I wish the real world were less like satire. I wrote the following fictional news piece as a joke with a friend, a fellow journalist, on Facebook as we were anticipating (still waiting, by the way) the official response from the USCCB on the ongoing revelations of the Planned Parenthood videos.

The appalling ghastliness of the videos revealing the world’s largest abortionist organisation’s baby-parts business, I felt, made the usual bland, boilerplate, bishopspeak rhetoric seem even more absurd and outrageous than usual. We were having a good (though somewhat grim) laugh, lowering, en-blanding and enfeebling the tone with each revision. Sorry if it seems an odd way of relaxing. Gallows humour is a well-documented phenomenon among journalists:
