The Remnant Will Never Forget

The Remnant devotes this section of our exclusively to testimonies by those who lived through the revolution of the Second Vatican Council.

This page is reserved for those who saw what happened, or heard what happened from those who did,  and who truly understand how Catholic families were blown apart. Visitors who have personal reflections, or memories of traditionalists pioneers, or reminicences of the revolution are encouraged to tell their stories and share their pictures here. . . so that we will never forget.

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

It is respectfully submitted that there are very few Catholics who actually want to disagree with the Roman Pontiff.  Moreover, it would appear self-evident that there are even fewer Catholics who would actually enjoy disagreeing with the Bishop of Rome.  But, sometimes, some things, although not desirable, must be done, and disagreeing with what the Pope is doing these days is one of those things.

When the Pope himself shakes and cracks the very rock foundations upon which the Faith rests, and when he thereby threatens to unleash the forces behind the gates of hell into our very midst, we must speak out and we must speak firmly and loudly.

The truth is that despite Vatican II and all of its platitudes towards the Faithful, the Catholic Faithful are never listened to.  The Faithful were not listened to when the altars were turned round, the Faithful were not listened to when the railings were torn out, and the Faithful were not listened to when the liturgy was changed.

This from Maureen Mullarkey at the First Things website:
"The pope, too, has a pen and a phone. Has Francis’ motu proprio trumped the Synod? Or handicapped conservatives? Hard to say. But one thing now is certain: Marriage is indissoluble except when it is not. Put another way, indissolubility is revealed to be more soluble than we had previously understood.

"Analyses of this latest twist of the mercy spanner have been piling up. Papal apologists offer their expected apologias; critics beg to differ. Among those with differences are some very serious, informed voices. Some insist nothing has changed; neater and kinder is all. Others discern a material shift: The language of endurance—until death do us part—still stands but the substance can be had gluten-free. Annulments are on track to be dispatched in short order; even, according to some commentators, in cases where one spouse contests. And a slam dunk is anticipated if both parties want out. Craft the right narrative, and your marriage never existed.

"It is better to leave judgments on the complexities of canon law to others. But impressions are admissible. And, given the range of responses, the overriding impression is one of calculated incoherence and premeditated chaos. It is disquieting, this sense that the confusion is intended—that the Year of Mercy is a feint. Disarray begins to look like the opening move in an endgame designed to bring the Church into more congenial conformity with the world it was charged to leaven." READ MORE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT:
We have had our differences with First Things in the past, true enough, but this outstanding article offers further proof that many former neo-Catholics are simply done trying to prop up the great façade. At this point, any "conservative" Catholic who is still defending the indefensible antics of Pope Francis is as anti-Catholic as many of the Church's declared enemies on the outside.

Pope Francis is out of control.  This is obvious to us, it's obvious to First Things, and it should be obvious to every intelligent Catholic in the world. As Maureen Mullarkey notes of this the latest papal sabotage of Church teaching, "the divorced and remarried have been rebaptized as a victim class, like the poor. This pushes papal politics beyond leftism. We are into crackpottery now."

Indeed. Crackpottery that will destroy the human element of the Church for decades to come if it is allowed to continue.  Pope Francis must be stopped, and all sincere and faithful Catholics must come together and work to achieve that end before it's too late.

Bracing for the Synod on the Family... and praying to the Blessed Virgin

"And, if I distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned yet do not have charity, it profits me nothing." St. Paul, 2 Corinthians, 13:3

It should not be too much, should it, to expect, at the very least, honesty from our bishops? After all of the physical, psychological and pecuniary harm that the laity have endured through clerical abuse of persons and power, perhaps clarity and transparency should be the rule of the day?  Surely to facilitate a centripetal rapprochement between the hierarchy and the faithful, the faithful should be reassured by demonstrated hierarchical faithfulness to the beautiful teachings of Our Lord and his apostles governed by the Spirit of Penance and Charity?

Mitis Iudex and a Centrifugal Church Featured

By:

Editor’s Note: I’m very pleased to introduce a new columnist to our stable of writers. Though Mr. Carter hails from the other side of the pond, in London, he and I made our acquaintance on The Remnant website (RemnantNewspaper.com) where he has become a frequent and valued contributor. The article which follows is an apt introductory piece because it is a new writer’s overview of an old position on the New Mass—one which The Remnant has held from the very beginning. With the Synod on the Family now looming large and threatening formal schism in the Church, it is so important for Catholics to recall how the human element of the Church arrived at this nightmare. Nothing that is happening now under the disastrous reign of Pope Francis would have come as a surprise to my father, to Michael Davies, to Archbishop Lefebvre and to the rest of the pioneers of the traditional Catholic movement who’d insisted from the very beginning that the New Mass was the touchstone of the revolution. With 20/20 hindsight, it is so easy to see that they were right all along— lex orandi, lex credendi, it is indeed the Mass that matters. Many thanks, Mr. Carter for a brilliant reminder of what the Catholic counterrevolution was all about when you and I were kids, and what it must become again if a true Catholic counterrevolution is to take root. Welcome aboard. MJM

After my return to the Church in 2005 (I was living and working in Moscow at the time), I attended the Novus Ordo regularly. I was edified by the friendship shown to me by the parish priest and by what I could see of the lives of my fellow regular Mass-goers and despite my misgivings about certain elements of the Mass at which I assisted, I was able to quash the memories of my parents’ struggles as two of the early English Traditionalists
and the grief and pain they suffered every day of their lives at the Revolution which toppled everything they held dear.

The Novus Ordo: The Reasons Why... We Resist Featured

By:

This just in from a certain prominent website: "The powerhouse organization of the radical traditionalist Catholic world is a sprawling international order called the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), founded by the late French archbishop, Marcel-François Lefebvre, in 1970. Although there have been recent attempts by the Vatican to pull SSPX back into the Catholic mainstream, the organization, all of whose priests were excommunicated in the late 1980s, has continued to... reject any reconciliation with the Catholic Church.

"Lefebvre was on an advisory committee to the Second Vatican Council (1962-65), which enacted several liberalizing and modernizing reforms within the church. But the archbishop refused to sign the council's final reports on religious liberty and the modern church, the first sign of a rebellion that would only grow in later years. In 1970, he founded SSPX as a seminary in Ecône, Switzerland.

"In 1974, Lefebvre publicly denounced as heretical the Vatican II reforms and the subsequent adoption of the new Mass, celebrated in local languages instead of traditional Latin. As a result, Pope Paul VI ordered the archbishop to shut down his Swiss seminary. But Lefebvre refused to comply, leading the Vatican to suspend his right to perform priestly functions (a step short of excommunication) in 1976.

"In 1988, Lefebvre took his most radical step yet, consecrating four bishops in defiance of the Vatican. Pope John Paul II responded by excommunicating Lefebvre and all SSPX priests, and declaring SSPX in formal schism with the church.

"In recent months, the Pope has extended an olive branch to SSPX members, inviting them to return to the church. But the sect's leaders rejected the suggestion outright..."

REMNANT COMMENT: I'd be happy to link to the rest of this lying piece of leftist propaganda but I'm not in the habit of sending more web traffic to the notoriously far-Left Southern Poverty Law Center.  Yes, that’s right—this slanderous rot has been recycled by the SPLC since 2006 when they first launched their "Intelligence Report" against so-called "radical traditional Catholicism".  The SPLC's full report against the Society of St. Pius X was again regurgitated in 2015 in an "Intelligence Report" that was sent to law enforcement agencies all across the country. Ironically enough, it was sent to me just yesterday and, for a moment, I mistook it for one of Michael Voris’ newly launched attacks on the SSPX.

The SPLC is attempting to coerce government agencies into listing the SSPX as a hate group and to equate the battle for orthodoxy in Christianity in general today with hate and hate groups. To this end, they have targeted the American Family Association, the SSPX, The Remnant, and countless other pro-life, pro-family, pro-Latin Mass groups.

So why is Michael Voris and Church Militant TV spending this entire week trying to vilify the largest traditional Catholic priestly fraternity in the world by conducting a so-called “FBI investigation" of the "schismatic" SSPX? That's a good question. Perhaps we should ask Mr. Voris, especially now during the run-up to the Synod on the Family which promises to blow the human element of the Church into full-blown schism. Michael has nothing better to do? Really?

From our point of view and whether he realizes it or not, Mr. Voris is carrying water for the most dangerous secularist enemies of the Catholic Church today. In attempting to isolate the SSPX as a “radical” fringe group that is “outside the Catholic Church” he becomes a star witness for the SPLC, and thus ultimately aids those who threaten the freedom and wellbeing of large families, hundreds of priests who adhere to the old teachings on marriage and homosexuality, tens of thousands of children, and so many good and faithful Catholics whose only "crime" is to seek refuge in the SSPX and try to save the souls of their children during the worst revolution in history.

The last thing these folks need--the last thing any of us needs at this dangerous anti-family, anti-God and anti-Catholic moment--is Michael Voris trying to boost his ratings by publicly and loudly stabbing traditional Catholics of any sort in the back and playing directly into the hands of the infamous Southern Poverty Law Center.

For heaven's sake, Michael, knock it off! Stop carrying water for the bad guys.

This just in from the Daily Caller: “Don’t expect new Christmas stamps this year because for the first time in decades the U.S. Postal Service won’t issue a new stamp depicting any Christian religious figure or symbol. No baby Jesus. No Mary. And none of the three wise men…

In 45 of the last 50 years, the postal service has printed new images for each Christmas season, including Mary, angels, wise men, Nativity scenes, the Star of David and even Santa Claus. But this year, all of them have been banished from the production presses.

REMNANT COMMENT: Have no fear, however, because there will be “A Charlie Brown Christmas” stamp — including “Linus kneeling by a scrawny Christmas tree, Snoopy and children ice skating, Charlie Brown checking his mail box, Linus leaning on a snowy brick wall and Charlie Brown standing in front of Snoopy’s doghouse. There will be one with Charlie Brown and a Christmas tree.”

Christ was dropped from Christmas long ago, of course, and now replaced by various cartoon characters. Christ was dropped from Easter some time back too, and magically replaced by a rabbit.

But, really, honestly, seriously—there’s no Christophobia in America. For hell's sake, don't be ridiculous!

Yes, so this is the headline over at the Catholic Herald, and here are some snippets:

A three-week Synod of Bishops to talk in the abstract about Catholic teaching on the family makes no sense to Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna.

“We are all called to observe the situation, not gazing from above and beginning with abstract ideas, but with the gaze of pastors who scrutinize today’s reality in an evangelical spirit,” the cardinal said in an interview with Jesuit Fr Antonio Spadaro, editor of La Civiltà Cattolica.

In the early September interview, the cardinal spoke about his experience at the extraordinary Synod of Bishops on the family last year, about his own parents’ divorce, about the relationships of his friends and about his hopes for the world Synod of Bishops on the family next month...

Cardinal Schönborn spoke in the interview about a gay friend of his who, after many temporary relationships, is now in a stable relationship. “It’s an improvement,” he said. They share “a life, they share their joys and sufferings, they help one another. It must be recognized that this person took an important step for his own good and the good of others, even though it certainly is not a situation the Church can consider ‘regular’.”

The Church’s negative “judgment about homosexual acts is necessary”, he said, “but the Church should not look in the bedroom first, but in the dining room! It must accompany people.” READ ARTICLE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Behold the soft and seductive words of the quintessential Modernist: Oh yes, the Church's infallible teachings are just that, infallible. But Jesus needs us to demand more of ourselves, to reach further out of ourselves to find a way to lovingly open our arms and our doors to all. No sin is too much for mercy. Kindness and forgiveness trumps all. blah, blah, blah.

And always and forever the one missing component—the 900-pound gorilla in the parlor—is never even mentioned--REPENTANCE.

Yes, the Church is merciful as is Christ, but Christ does not forgive that for which we are not sorry. That's the way it works, Your Eminence. Remember your catechism?

By the way, is Ignatius Press going to continue to sell the books by this disturbed and disturbing prelate?

Big News from Remnant TV...

His Excellency Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison, Wisconsin graciously apologizes to the Society of St. Pius X.

Will this stunning development finally end the schism mongers' ugly witch hunt?

Plus, Edward Pentin reports on an explosive dossier inside the Vatican that may mean big trouble for Pope Francis.

This weekend our nation celebrates Labor Day. The origins of this national holiday go back more than a hundred years, when many workers in factories and fields were grossly overworked and often underpaid. Since that time in affluent America the rights and dignity of workers have made significant advances, often through the intervention of government, which imposes worker-friendly standards upon employers. How ironic then that on this extended weekend, intended for the rest and recreation of laborers, this same government which claims to care about workers has now imprisoned one of its own public servants.

I am speaking of the county clerk in Kentucky, who sits in a jail cell over this three day weekend for the alleged crime of refusing to authorize and issue same-sex marriage certificates to homosexual couples.
