Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)
RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome
Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.
Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:View items...

SSPX claims and reopens St. James Church, once slated for destruction by the Diocese of Pittsburgh
An incredible saga endured by the parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ended in victory on Saturday, March 28, 2015 when Fr. Niklaus Pfluger of the Society of St. Pius X celebrated the Traditional Latin Mass before a crowd of 560 people in historic St. James Catholic Church in the West End of Pittsburgh.
Traditional Catholics began organizing to preserve the Traditional Latin Mass in the Pittsburgh area almost immediately after the imposition of the Novus Ordo Mass in the early 1970s. After celebrating Mass in various locations (including individuals’ basements and rented hotel ballrooms) the faithful purchased St. Sava’s Serbian Orthodox Chapel on the south side of Pittsburgh in 1977. This chapel was small but adequate for an extended period of time. The Society of St. Pius X acquired the apostolate of Our Lady of Fatima in 1991 and moved the celebration of the Mass to an old school building in Collier Township in the Pittsburgh suburbs. This location was larger but was not ideal for the celebration of the Mass.

It is with some regret that I must inform you that my employment as a contributing blogger at the National Catholic Register has been terminated.
Yup, they fired me.
I am grateful for the five years I spent as a contributor to the Register, the online presence of which has grown immensely during my tenure and that of the other original group of contributors. There is a lot to be proud of there. I stuck with them in hard times even when they were completely broke and it looked like they would blink out of existence, only to be saved at the last minute. Alas and alack, our time together has come to an end.
There are many things I could say about why this happened and how and maybe one day I will say more. But for now, suffice it to say that my particular contributions have not been well received over the last year or so and that has lead to increasing tension. READ FULL REPORT HERE
REMNANT COMMENT: By a strange coincidence, Mr. Archbold, we here at The Remnant are in search of an additional columnist. Perhaps you might consider taking a crack at ticking off a few of our readers or maybe even building up some real tension with our editors. In fact, I challenge you to give that a try! You up?
National Catholic Register Fires Patrick ArchboldBy: Michael J. Matt | Editor
"This bill will keep Indiana from doing what Washington and Colorado are doing to their florists and bakers, which is to punish them for running their businesses according to conscience and Christian principle.
"But any effort to protect religious liberty in America now draws the withering fire of homosexual activists, who know that the only thing that stands between them and the total takeover of our culture is religious conviction. Therefore they must smash and obliterate religious liberty wherever it is found.
"Businesses such as Angie’s List are already canceling multi-million dollar projects in Indiana, conventions are being canceled, mayors in cities such as San Francisco have banned any taxpayer-funded travel to the state, Apple CEO Tim Cook is writing scathing editorials, Charles Barkley is condemning Indiana, and the NCAA and the NFL are rattling their sabers about punishing the Hoosier state for the crime of protecting the free exercise of religion.
"With the Final Four being hosted by Indianapolis this coming Saturday, expect things to be at fever pitch all week. Already, pro-family organizations that worked to pass this bill are getting death threats and Christian businesses are getting threatened too. We’re closer than most people think to our own Kristallnacht, in which Christian businesses could be trashed, vandalized and burned by radical anti-Christian bigots." Full Report at Barbwire
REMNANT COMMENT: When will Catholics wake up to what's really going on here--and to what's been going on in the Catholic Church for the last 50 years? True Traditional Catholicism has nothing to do with lobbying for "liturgical preferences". The old way of praying must be restored so that the old way of believing can be restored so that Catholics can grow a spiritual and moral backbone and once again begin to lead the world out of darkness and chaos.
The only force on earth capable of stopping the bloody crucifixion of the Mystical Body of Christ--that means YOU and your children--is the Catholic Church. There is only one moral authority in the world that comes from God and that truly matters, and that authority has been infiltrated by Modernists who are trying to make the Catholic Church palatable to a world that hates Christ. It's not working, it will never work, and it's time to abandon miserably failed policies based on the "spirit of Vatican II".
Please, wake up and stop defending the revolution. Understand what has happened to your Church. For God's sake and the sake of your children, return to the old Catholic Mass, reject the "new evangelization" which has only decapitated the authentic Catholic missionary spirit, and resist the ecumenical brainwashing designed to undermine all things Catholic.
Obviously, the world is in desperate need of a strong and restored Catholic Church but now, five decades after the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic moral authority has grown silent, the Catholic priesthood is awash in scandal, the Catholic Pope is refusing to "judge" and the Catholic liturgy is becoming increasingly ridiculous. Don't you see what's happened? As St. John Fisher put it, 'the fort is betrayed even by them that should have defended it.'
Time is running out. The only hope for the world is the Traditional Catholic restoration. Nothing else matters.
Christians Prepare for Kristallnacht in IndianaBy: Michael J. Matt | Editor
From ABC.net's 'Religion and Ethics': "That the first encyclical of Pope Francis will be dedicated to environmental issues represents a remarkable convergence with the renowned green Eastern Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew I.
"Catholic conservatives who might be inclined to resist this message have failed to spot the obvious: that creation care is a fundamental aspect of what it means to be a Christian - even in a traditional, orthodox sense...
"Liberation theologian Leonardo Boff was so taken, indeed, with the relevance of material interrelationships of ecology that they displaced to a large extent an earlier primacy given to human social thought. And Pope Francis has, on all accounts, asked to read all of Boff's writings in the lead up to this encyclical."
REMNANT COMMENT:That's about all we can stomach this morning, but if you care to read the rest here it is. Beyond that and to quote a friend's reaction to this: "So, Pope Francis prepared for his encyclical by reading everything Boff wrote. Thus we will enter a new phase of this disaster: a Pope teaching pantheism from the Chair of Peter."

A Man for All Seasons: Pope Francis and the EnvironmentBy: Michael J. Matt | Editor
The annual initiative, which began in 2007, invites cities around the world to turn off the lights on their national monuments and public buildings, as well as in offices, shops and homes, to help raise awareness about the need to adopt more environmentally sound practices. REMNANT COMMENT: The irony here, of course, is that our beloved St. Peter's has been enshrouded in darkness for some fifty years or more. By this stupid, politically correct stunt—designed to curry favor with a world drowning in the blood of aborted babies and choking on the moral refuse of pornographic filth and the fragments of the Christian family it has blown to smithereens—the Vatican proudly hoisted the white flag even higher and announced anew the Catholic Church's pathetic surrender to the modern world.
St Peter's Basilica to go dark for Earth HourBy: Michael J. Matt | Editor
In his letter to Catholics suffering at the hands of Arian heretics, the great St. Athanasius writes: "I know moreover that not only this thing saddens you, but also the fact that while others have obtained the churches by violence, you are meanwhile cast out from your places. For they hold the places, but you the Apostolic Faith."
Today Athanasius smiled, for in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States of America a gathering of faithful Catholics witnessed a truly remarkable event: the dedication ceremony of new Catholic Church.
Athanasius Smiled: Taking Back One of Our PlacesBy: Michael J. Matt | Editor
My previous article discussed Karl Keating’s latest exercise in traditionalist bashing: his self-published book The New Geocentrists. Herewith some further considerations prompted by the book.
The positions this newspaper has taken on the crisis in the Church since the immediate aftermath of the Second Vatican Council, when The Remnant was founded, have been vindicated beyond reasonable dispute by historical events. Only the obtuse or the willfully blind can continue to maintain that the “renewal of Vatican II” has been anything but an unprecedented disaster, leading Paul VI himself to lament very early on that “the smoke of Satan” had entered the Church—which, indeed, it had thanks to the “opening to the world” Pope Paul likewise lamented as “a veritable invasion of the Church by worldly thinking.”

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will receive Pope Francis at the White House on September 23rd.
"During the visit, the President and the Pope will continue the dialogue, which they began during the President’s visit to the Vatican in March 2014, on their shared values and commitments on a wide range of issues," the statement from the Press Secretary read.
The following day, September 24th, Pope Francis will address a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress. This is the first time in U.S. history that a Supreme Pontiff will address the Congress.
On September 25th, the Pope will head to New York and address the General Assembly of the United Nations. He will conclude his visit in Philadelphia where he will attend the World Meeting of Families. Source Zenit
REMNANT COMMENT: Why does John 15:18 come to mind just now? "If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you. If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also."

When Universal Society of Hinduism President Rajan Zed recited prayers for the state senate's March 3 session in Boise, Senator Sheryl Nuxoll boycotted the invocation and said that she believed the US is a Christian nation and "Hindu is a false faith with false gods".
Her opinions "do not represent the opinions or teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, (Boise) Bishop Peter Christensen or even our Holy Father, Pope Francis, who has been an outspoken supporter of ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue," a statement from the Boise Diocese said on Friday. READ MORE HERE
REMNANT COMMENT: I wonder if St. Paul would still "represent the opinions of Pope Francis" according the Bishop Christensen. It was Paul, after all, who noted in his first letter to the Corinthians that "the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils."
I guess we've evolved since then, right? Paul the Rad Trad, on the other hand, is no longer relevant since he never read the 16 documents of Vatican II.
