TRADITIONIS CUSTODES: The Very Latest Super Duper Update

The following gives more responses to new questions that have arisen regarding certain matters associated with what is called Traditionis Custodes.

(Note: The Traditional Latin Mass, also called the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, is referenced as "the Latin Mass" throughout this document.)

............................................................................................................................................

To the proposed question:

Can a car that has a bumper sticker saying "I love the Latin Mass" park in the parish parking lot?

The answer is:

Negative.

Explanatory note.

Nor can such a vehicle park on any street within a 10 mile radius of the parish (50 mile radius for marathon runners). Solar powered scooters, skateboards, etc. are transportation options (provided Latin Mass Missals are hidden from view during the journey, and the aforementioned bumper stickered car is left inside of the homeowner's garage with the garage door shut and bolted).

.........................................................................................................................................

To the proposed question:

May a priest offer the Latin Mass and, later the same day, watch a video of the Latin Mass?

The answer is:

Negative (with only one exception).

Explanatory note.

The only exception being a grainy video with poor sound quality lasting less than 45 minutes and watched on an 8mm film projector that uses a dim light bulb. (Even with that, prior approval must be received from a chancery bureaucrat who has hanging on his office wall a signed photograph of Father James Martin, S.J.)

To the proposed question:

During the Latin Mass, can the loud speaker system be turned up for the benefit of attendees who have lost some of their hearing?

The answer is:

Negative.

Explanatory note.

The risk of various parts of the Latin Mass being heard by dog walkers, bicyclists, etc. is too great to allow such a request.

...................................................................................................................

To the proposed question:

Should babies under the age of 12 months be given a choice about whether or not to attend the Latin Mass?

The answer is:

Affirmative.

Explanatory note.

The following guidelines should be followed: If the baby cries at least once within 6 days prior to the scheduled Latin Mass, that should be regarded as a clear sign of the baby's unwillingness to attend that Latin Mass. If, however, the baby does not cry within 6 days prior to the scheduled Latin Mass, the baby is probably sick and should stay home or be taken to a doctor.

....................................................................................................................

To the proposed question:

For Latin Masses occurring at night, can electrical lights be used inside the church?

The answer is:

Negative.

Explanatory note.

This is forbidden in as much as it may attract attention from neighbors, pedestrians, etc. who may, out of curiosity, walk inside the church during the Latin Mass. If, however, windows and doors are covered with a thick fabric, candles may be used but only after receiving permission from a chancery bureaucrat(see above).

..................................................................................................................

To the proposed question:

Should Latin Mass attendees be required to wear around their respective necks a thin, thread-like string that has hanging from it a 2-inch felt cutout of the letter "L" to identify them as Latin Mass attendees?

The answer is:

Negative.

Explanatory note.

"That question was insulting." -P. F.

..................................................................................................................

To the proposed question:

Should Latin Mass attendees be required to wear around their respective necks a 30-pound, industrial strength iron chain that has attached to it a 12-inch by 6-inch wooden cutout of the letter "L"?

The answer is:

Affirmative.

Explanatory note.

Though wooden cutouts are allowed, iron is preferred. Bishops should show much sensitivity, being mindful some attendees may prefer cursive "L's" to standard printed "L's". Regardless, solar powered lights outlining the "L" should be regarded as the norm for all.
