At the invitation of Archbishop Michael Jude Byrnes, Metropolitan Archbishop of Agaña, Guam, Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Auxiliary Bishop of Nur-Sultan, Kazakstan visited Guam and was the keynote speaker for two conference events January 18 and 19, 2020 on “ Strengthening Our Catholic Faith on Guam”, organized by the Catholic faithful group “Concerned Catholics of Guam”.

Strengthening Our Catholic Faith on Guam’s Conference was a significant event in the renewal and healing for our “Holy Mother Church" and for the Catholic faithful after the period of sufferings and scandals which they had to endure in the past decades.

The first Pontifical Low Mass in the Traditional Latin Rite in Guam since the liturgical reform after the Second Vatican Council was held at the Dulce Nombre de Maria cathedral basilica in Guam on January 19, 2020.

Archbishop Michael Jude Byrnes assisted in choir at the Pontifical Low Mass, celebrated by Bishop Athanasius Schneider.

Many faithful in Guam very much appreciated the pastoral solicitude of Archbishop Byrnes of having made possible the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass at the Cathedral, offering thereby the occasion to the faithful of experiencing this liturgical treasure which was cherished by all previous generations of Catholics in Guam.
