As it turns out, the Holy Father was quite right—the statement does, in fact, "speak for itself" and we do indeed have "sufficient journalistic capacity to reach our own conclusions”—which are these: Archbishop Viganò’s charges are eminently credible and His Excellency has obviously acted heroically for the good of the Church.
In fact, we fully support those Catholics who would like to see His Excellency awarded the red hat, so that at some point soon and in God's good providence, Cardinal Viganò could become successor to Pope Francis. (Though we do not consider ourselves worthy to suggest a papal name for the new pope, of course, we all agree that Pope Pius XIII has a nice ring to it.)
Also, as we are aware of how busy the Holy Father must be right now, we would also like to suggest His Holiness forego said clarifications (which we fear may amount to little more than Fake News) and instead announce his intentions to take Archbishop Viganò’s suggestion to heart, and either resign his august office or give Archbishop Viganò a fair and open hearing in which his charges most serious can be thoroughly investigated.
Before the Holy Father resigns, however, we would like to take this opportunity to respectfully request that His Holiness offer clarification, not on Vigano's charges, but rather on Burke's dubia. Our readers have been patiently waiting for His Holiness to do this for some years, and we believe now is a moment most opportune for Francis to either clarify the sticky points cited by Cardinal Burke and the other "dubia cardinals" or else issue a retraction of the disastrous Amoris Laetitia as a whole, which, as far as we’re concerned, would be even better.
In conclusion, we remain convinced that the Holy Father, being a humble man, will waste no time responding to concerns having to do with defined doctrine of the church (and therefore the souls of the faithul) even before issuing a clarification on an accusation leveled against merely his own person accused, in this case, of an impropriety that reflects poorly only on the person of the Holy Father himself rather than on the mystical Body of Christ.
With this in mind, we're certain His Holiness will want to address Amoris Laetitia (as per Cardinal Burke’s dubia) posthaste for the good of the Church as well as the souls of the faithful.
Or maybe not, eh Holiness?
