Joe Rogan’s anti-vaccine opinions created a censorship dumpster fire when singer Neil Young pulled his music from Spotify, the same platform that offers Rogan’s podcasts. In the aftermath, those under the age of 40 were wondering who Young is, while those 40 to 65 are amazed that Young still breathes, and everyone over 65 are questioning what exactly is Spotify.

neil young fans

On occasion, I have tuned into Rogan, the longtime former host of “Fear Factor,” and question if Young, or any other “outraged” leftists ever actually listened to “The Joe Rogan Experience” minus an edited thirty-second soundbite.

Rogan is nothing like the arrogant Young that self-lobotomized years ago as another hippie burnout from the ‘60s counterculture who thinks nothing of attacking the First Amendment – the foundation of the nation. Ironically, Young who once sang, “Rockin’ in the Free World,” now spearheads the cancellation brigade. Those once incredulous of government now trusts a government that fears dissenting attitudes.

With Republicans poised to win back the Senate after the November midterm election, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, who is the court’s second-longest serving member, announced his retirement at the end of the court’s term this summer.

Biden promised during the 2020 South Carolina primary that, provided he was elected, his first appointment to the nation’s highest court would be a Black woman. Biden prefers identity politics taking precedent over qualifications.

Robert Jasinski, better known to his old platoon mates as Jazz, loved God, his family, the nation he so faithfully served and the eagle, globe, and anchor he proudly earned so long ago. To Jazz, the Marine Corps’ motto of Semper Fidelis – always faithful – was not just some benevolent military proverb, but a way of life.

Once we reconnected after a nearly 20-year hiatus, we would see each other by attending the annual Army/Navy game. Being the most prestigious rivalry game of college football that there is, the best and most anticipated part of the day for me was always seeing my old friend and once again breaking bread with him. For a brief few hours we got to feel like young men again, Marines, surrounded by all this pomp and tradition wrapped in this timeless venue that seemed more like a giftwrapped time machine for two aging veterans.

Many playing the stock and bond markets are more speculators than branded investors. For more than a year, they have been pouring money in, but this too will come to an end despite stock prices having doubled the past three years.

This was underscored when the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 posted their worst weekly losses since the beginning of the pandemic with higher interest rates lurking.

Not one branch of the U.S. military has approved any religious exemptions regarding the COVID jab. As a result, hundreds have already been discharged with plenty more on deck.

The COVID jab mandate went into effect on November 28, 2021 and has been struck down by a number of federal courts. The most recent being the Supreme Court’s decision not to make private employers force the jab upon their employees ruling OSHA was out of bounds pushing forward with such an unconstitutional mandate.

The Orwellian headline that New York will dispense medical treatment to those suffering from COVID by racial preference was just another sign of the times.

New York endangered thousands of elderly nursing home patients in 2020 and now this. How is this not government-sponsored racism? If they are so concerned with life-expectancy via racial equity perhaps mandatory euthanasia of whites over 80 is something the Margaret Sanger branch of the Democrat party needs to pursue.

Countercultural moment: When the Fiji men’s rugby team won gold at the Olympics, they got on their knees prayed and then sang a hymn in thanksgiving to God.

Oxymoron: The Webb telescope launched on Christmas has NASA anticipating it to reveal a “quantum leap of understanding of who we are, how we got here, what we are, and how did it all evolve.” This is exactly what Christmas discloses to Christians.

As the days gradually begin to lengthen and 2021 has been deposited into the annals of history, the time for the annual Rearview Awards has arrived.

Prick of the year: Dr. Tony Fauci, a Brooklyn native no less, seems to take joy in every new COVID variant and then doubles down on the inoculation and booster express.

Greatest lie: Politicians embellish and exaggerate, but Joe Biden’s claim that his “Build Back Better” legislation “costs zero dollars” is the year’s biggest and grandest canard.

A recent Lifeway Research poll had both promising and not so promising news. The good news was straight forward: More than 90 percent of Americans celebrates Christmas. On the flip side however, only 22 percent of those that rejoice and revel in the greatest event in all of human history could actually recall in detail what they are celebrating. Perhaps that explains why Thanksgiving is the most popular American holiday, according to another Lifeway Research survey.  Moreover, 17 percent actually claimed they could not recall anything about Christmas.

At his virtual “Summit for Democracy,” which received little news coverage and was more icing than cake, President Biden announced, “In the face of sustained and alarming challenges to democracy, universal human rights, and all around the world, democracy needs champions.”

I had to reread that statement more than once believing I had missed the punchline.

It was no joke.
