francis xmas address

Pope Francis’s Christmas address of December 21—the traditional feast of the doubting Thomas the Apostle and of the Ember Saturday of Advent—is exactly the antithesis of the famous “hermeneutic of continuity” address delivered by Pope Benedict XVI on December 22, 2005. In that speech, Ratzinger (successfully or unsuccessfully) tried to reconnect the postconciliar experiment with the 3,000-year history of the Church as God’s Israel.

Francis is saying, in effect: “Nope, not gonna happen. In fact, we need to ramp up the modernization efforts and leave behind that stale, rigid old past. If we want to keep Christianity, we have to change everything.”

schneider sermonBishop Athanasius Schneider

ROME, March 27, 2020 — As the coronavirus continues to spread, Bishop Athanasius Schneider has urged priests to imitate Jesus the Good Shepherd and, for the sake of souls, even disobey the unjust orders of bishops whom he says are now behaving more like “civil bureaucrats” than “shepherds.”

In a new interview on the Church’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic (see full text below), the auxiliary bishop of Saint Mary in Astana, Kazakhstan, said he believes the majority of Catholic bishops reacted “precipitously and out of panic in prohibiting all public Masses.” The decision to close churches, he said, is “even more incomprehensible.”

Remnant Editor's Introduction: During this seemingly apocalyptic moment, we must be ever mindful of the fact that, despite the great apostasy that's been unfolding in the Church for decades, God Himself has not abandoned us.

Good priests all over the world are answering the call of the disenfranchised faithful, to help them maintain the lumen Christi in the midst of the present darkness that seems to be enveloping the whole world. In this moment of desolation, many of them are beginning to understand the warp and woof of the Modernist revolution that has decimated the Catholic Church, nearly destroyed the venerable Roman Rite and now finally left us all spiritually abandoned outside of locked churches.

“YOU HAVE SAID SO”

“Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
And they were very sorrowful, and began to say to him one after another,
“Is it I, Lord?” He answered, “He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me, will betray me.
The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed!
It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.”
Judas, who betrayed him, said, “Is it I, Master?”
He said to him, “You have said so.”
Mt 26, 20-25

On March 25, the 2020 Pontifical Yearbook was published with a real novelty. It may seem like a typographical trifle, in the part dedicated to the reigning pontiff, but this is not the case. Until last year, in fact, Francis’s titles were listed at the top of the page, beginning with “Vicar of Christ”, “Successor of the Prince of the Apostles” etc., and ending with his birth name and a very brief biography.

URGENT GLOBAL PRESS RELEASEExorcism pic

ON OCTOBER 13, 1884, Leo XIII had a terrible vision of the assault of the powers of Hell against Holy Mother Church, and ordered the prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel to be said at the end of Mass. He also composed an Act of Exorcism and ordered it to be inserted into the Roman Ritual, and explicitly mentioned what he had seen: “The Church, the Spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, has been filled with bitterness and inebriated with poison by her crafty enemies, who have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the place where the See of Holy Peter and the Chair of Truth has been set up as the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.”

In these modern times of terrible tribulation, when the pandemic has deprived Catholics of Holy Mass and the Sacraments, the Evil One has gone into a frenzy and multiplied his attacks to tempt souls into sin. These blessed days of Holy Week, which used to be the ideal time to go to Confession to prepare ourselves for our Easter Communion, now see us locked inside our houses, but they cannot stop us praying to Our Lord.

He kept his church open, now he found a way to bring Mass to those of his flock who can attend.
________

Without violating regulations imposed by the Church or the state, this diocesan priest has discovered a way to maintain the consolation of Holy Mother Church during this time of crisis.

There will be a Tridentine Mass offered at 10:00 am on Sunday on the Saint Augustine campus.

The Mass will be on the north lawn adjacent to the parking lot, visible to the faithful.

The faithful are asked to remain in or around their vehicles for the Mass itself.

Immediately following the final blessing and Gospel, Holy Communion will be distributed to the faithful who wish to receive.

As a consolation to the larger Catholic community around the world, these traditional Latin Masses and their sermons will appear on the Remnant website every Sunday until the crisis ends.

The main thing to keep in mind is that the Mass WILL NOT BE CANCELLED, and that the graces won by this Mass will be available to our families, diocese and country, regardless of who is present.

The coronavirus crisis—to whatever extent real or exaggerated—seems, as with all crises, to be bringing out the best and the worst in people.

Unfortunately, with a few exceptions like Bishop Strickland, it seems to be bringing out the worst in our bishops. The Catholic world is moving day by day into a growing sacramental blackout that includes not only suspension of public Masses and Holy Communion, but also suspension of baptisms, confessions, and—most appallingly, given the dangers faced by the elderly and the sick—extreme unction. (In these circumstances, calling it “anointing of the sick” would seem almost quaint; if people on death’s door, in extremis, no longer count as candidates, a fortiori the gravely ill don’t make the cut, either.)

It appears justice is finally served in the kangaroo court. The High Court of Australia overturned Cardinal Pell's sexual assault conviction and has ordered that he be released from prison.

Cardinal Pell was accused of sexual abuse on December 11, 2018 and has been in prison since February 2019. His appeal to the Victorian High court was dismissed in August of last year, at which time he took his appeal to the High Court (the equivalent of the Supreme Court in the U.S.). He denied all charges, which came from the unsubstantiated testimony of a single person.

At the time of publication, Rome, which threw Cardinal Pell under the bus so fast and furiously, has nothing to say about his acquittal.

If we hope to continue to enjoy our freedoms, this insidious papacy must be exposed and stopped.

Here’s an instructive exercise for Catholics. This word cloud will demonstrate the theological heft and ideological agenda of Jorge Bergoglio, which frankly mimics Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestseller beach book Eat, Pray, and Love.

Plug in Bergoglio’s hollow ramblings  into a word cloud generator, and VOILA, up pops visual representations of his lightweight linguistics. The larger the font, the more often he repeats the word. The word cloud below appears to be trite New Age platitudes, resembling former presidential candidate, Marianne Williamson.

If it is possible for this Pope to be for all practical purposes schismatic – and I would say also heretical – why could not that  Council also have been so?” - Archbishop Viganò

Introduction by Michael J. Matt: If in the long history of the Catholic Church there has been an event more vigorously contested among faithful Catholics than the Second Vatican Council, I’d like to know what it is. Some would argue that, some fifty years after the fact, the Council is emerging as the most polarizing event in Church history.

That the Council has been at the center of so much division and indeed confusion since its close in 1965 will be, perhaps, reason enough to prompt a future pope to declare its novel teachings null and void. But until that happens, faithful Catholics on both sides of the debate are left to rummage through the scattered fragments left in the wake of Vatican II explosion and try to make a Church out of them again.
