White Pope vs Black Robe

Back in the early days of films and television, a common convention used in American Westerns to distinguish good guys from bad guys was by the color of their cowboy hats and clothing: the good guys wore white and the bad guys wore black. This practice was followed in other genres of the film industry as well. Notable examples of evil figures in black include the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, the cartoon character Snidely Whiplash with his black hat, and the evil lord Darth Vader in Star Wars.

But the use of white and black to contrast good and evil did not originate with Hollywood; rather, the contrast is rooted in creation itself, wherein God created the light and separated it from the darkness. This contrast takes on a supernatural dimension in the Gospel of Saint John, especially in the prologue, which is read at the end of every Mass, wherein the light is associated with God Himself and the darkness is evil.

Let’s use the black and white convention to represent the dichotomy between good and evil with regard to two figures who have sat upon the Chair of Saint Peter: Saint Pius V and Francis of Rome. We will refer to the former as the White Pope (the practice of popes wearing white originated with St. Pius V, who was a Dominican) and the latter as the Black Robe (a title given to Jesuit missionaries by American Indians).

White Pope is best known to traditional Catholics for his singular role in confirming the Tridentine Mass as the normative rite of the Latin Church and declaring it to be such in perpetuity. It is for this reason that all attempts in the post Vatican Council era to suppress or abrogate this Mass are invalid and ungodly.

Black Robe, on the contrary, shows utter contempt for traditional Catholicism. Specifically, he seeks to expunge the Tridentine Mass from the face of the earth through intimidation, harassment, suppression, ghettoization and abrogation, despite its Apostolic roots and its protection by papal Apostolic authority.

White Pope was known for his deep devotion to Mary and for his promotion of the rosary. More than promotion, in preparation for the naval Battle of Lepanto and as a spiritual weapon, this Holy Pontiff commanded Catholics to get on their knees with rosaries and sailors to row by the cadence of the rosary. In honor of Mary, in gratitude for the miraculous naval victory due to her intercession, White Pope declared that day to be the Feast of our Lady of Victory, now known as the Feast of the Holy Rosary.

Black Robe, on the contrary, has shown his contempt for the rosary, as evident in this public statement:

It concerns me; when I was elected, I received a letter from a group which said: “Your Holiness, we offer you this spiritual treasure: 3,525 rosaries.” Why don't they say, “we pray for you, we ask…”, but this thing of counting… And these groups return to practices and to disciplines that I lived through – not you, because you are not old – to disciplines, to things that in that moment took place, but not now, they do not exist today…

Furthermore, with regard to his view of the Blessed Virgin herself, he once made this public observation:

How many times Mary remained quiet, up until the most raw silence at the foot of the cross. … She was silent, but in her heart, how many things told the Lord! ‘You, that day, this and the other that we read, you had told me that he would be great, you had told me that you would have given him the throne of David, his forefather, that he would have reigned forever and now I see him there!’ Our Lady was human! Perhaps she even had the desire to say: ‘Lies! I was deceived!’

White Pope was a stalwart defender against Moslem forces threatening Europe, to the point of raising up a Holy League of Catholic soldiers and sailors, to break Islamic control of the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The decisive Battle of Lepanto put an end to Moslem incursions and imminent threat of Islamic invasion.

Black Robe, on the contrary, has promoted and facilitated massive invasions of European nations by mostly Moslem immigrants and has criticized other nations for protecting their own borders against such invasions by illegals, many of which are Moslem and unvetted criminals and terrorists. These massive invasions have led to exponential increases in crime and terrorism within many nations and communities, substantial strains upon workforces and economies, and sped a collapse of Christian culture and religion.

White Pope, prior to his elevation as Supreme Pontiff, served as a Grand Inquisitor, during the stormy period in which Protestantism was religiously ravaging much of Europe and threatened the Church. He went so far as to excommunicate Queen Elizabeth, who persecuted the Church and executed many priests.

Black Robe, on the contrary, is himself a public heretic who has scandalized the faithful and misled souls. Unlike Protestants, who attack the Church from without, Black Robe is a Modernist who has infiltrated the Church and attacks Her from within. He honored heretic King Charles with relics of the Holy Cross.

White Pope reaffirmed the immutable dogma that there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church:

He Who reigns on high has entrusted His Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, outside which there is no salvation, to one person on earth alone, namely: to Peter, the Prince of the Apostles, and to Peter's successor, the Roman Pontiff

Black Robe, on the contrary, claims that God wills a diversity of religions and we are all children of God.

White Pope condemned in no uncertain terms the sin of sodomy and commanded that any cleric who committed such an execrable crime shall be immediately consigned to the secular authority for execution.

Black Robe, on the contrary, asks “Who am I to judge?” and continues to promote and protect sodomites among the clergy, including prelates and princes. He opposes civil laws that discriminate against sodomy. Furthermore, he opposes capital punishment for any crime, heretically claiming it to be intrinsically evil.

White Pope vs Black Robe: has there ever been such a stark contrast between good and evil on the Chair?
