The Devil and Steve Bannon

“In our time more than ever before, the chief strength of the wicked lies in the cowardice and weakness of good men… All the strength of Satan’s reign is due to the easy-going weakness of Catholics. Oh! If I might ask the Divine Redeemer, as the prophet Zachary did in spirit: What are those wounds in the midst of Thy hands? The answer would not be doubtful: With these was I wounded in the house of them that loved Me. I was wounded by My friends, who did nothing to defend Me, and who, on every occasion, made themselves the accomplices of My adversaries.”    -Pope St. Pius X, Discourse at the Beatification of St. Joan of Arc, Dec. 13, 1908

THE ODD WORLD of left-wing Catholics, or “Leftcats”, is in an uproar over an article by the Greek paleoconservative, Taki Theodoracopulos, that appeared in The Catholic Herald. It seems that because Taki made some off-color jokes back in the early nineties, his writings must now be considered not up to the standards of the gauchiste Night Court-in-its-fifth-season-lame Catholic left.

The hall monitors went into a fit, digging up alleged skeletons out of the Herald’s closet and even just making stuff up. One of their "smoking guns" against the Herald was that former Trump White House advisor and Catholic populist, Steve Bannon, was somehow once associated with it. Sort of a guilt by association thing.

It seems that our friends in the world of open-mouth-creeper hipster avatars and “I can only imagine,”-level online commentary are willing to pitch a fit over the rise of any political movement that would advocate for the rights of Western peoples while in any way allying itself with the Roman Catholic Church.

Why a host of Muppet-tier online commentators—some of whom are not even Catholic—think they somehow have the right to be arbiters of what Catholics can and cannot say in defense of themselves is very curious and worthy of a later discussion.

But this hysterical attack on the Herald does make it clear that many, if not most, the of talking heads of the JPII era who peddled their books on EWTN via Ignatius Press to Catholics who were inspired by the Polish pontiff to rediscover their faith, or at least a modernist-lite version of it, are here in the Francis era revealing themselves as perennial opportunists who simply go along with the politically correct idée du jour—even if it means pulling down the Church and our entire civilization in the process.

While most of the denizens of the old “Life on the Rock” era are migrating over to Francis Church, some of them have had enough. They realize that the Indian Summer of the post-Cold War 90s is over and that now we face civilizational collapse.

One of these Catholics who has clearly had enough is Steve Bannon.

Oddly enough, it is because of his persistent, pit-bull attitude in defense of the West that Bannon is despised by the left both in the Church and out.

A former Navy man, Goldman Sachs banker, and Breitbart News cofounder -- Bannon reached the pinnacle of his power as Chief Strategist in the Trump White House, helping to craft the protectionist, America-first platform that shocked the establishment and vaulted the New York real estate mogul to leader of the free world.

The fact that an Irish Catholic populist would be positioned so close to the epicenter of American power was evidently too frightening for some and so, in August of 2017, Bannon was removed from the White House by, it is rumored, Jared Kushner, the “Fredo” of the Kushner family.

But that was not the end of Steve Bannon. Despite a barrage of racist and anti-Christian abuse in the media, Bannon began to slowly but methodically build up an international alliance of populists in a concerted effort to save the Christian West.  To that end, the mastermind behind the astonishing Trump victory lent his support to a variety of major populist movements from Brazil to Hungary and beyond.

Addressing France’s Front National, for example, Bannon had very interesting words for Catholics in the West hoping to preserve their culture, tradition, and identity:

“Let them call you racists. Let them call you xenophobes. Let them call you nativists. Wear it as a badge of honor.”

Bannon’s point here is that in this hysterical and irrational era, in which decades of Cultural Marxist education and social conditioning have reached their peak among the Millennials--the most gaslit and zombified generation ever--anyone who has a love for his country and a sincere patriotism will be labeled “racist” by those who seek to destroy what remains of the Christian West.

This summer, Bannon even met with Cardinal Raymond Burke and Italian politician Matteo Salvini in Rome to discuss an emerging Catholic populist organization that aspires to inspire a whole new generation of leaders with the fire and the fury to defend our Church and Western civilization.

These guys are quite serious!  Bannon and Benjamin Harnwell of the Dignitatis Humanae Institute, have even been scoping out a monastery in Italy to serve as one of their “war rooms.”  While traditionalists might rightly be wary of an organization named after a document from Vatican II, the fact that Harnwell and Bannon’s planned takeover of a soon-to-be-abandoned monastery was protested by Italian leftists that were definitely not paid to do so by George Soros is certainly a sign of good things to come.

Some will argue that there are good reasons to be a bit wary of Bannon's populism.  But as the sand pours through the hour glass, we're running out of alternatives.  Someone must do something, and Steve Bannon's making a pretty interesting run at it.

The left is in full-on attack mode.  This week we learned, for example, that having consolidated their victory with the LGBT movement, the powers behind the sexual revolution are now attempting to normalize pedophilia, even going so far as to promote a child drag queen named “Desmond” on national media outlets such as Good Morning America.

As a civilization, we have become so blinded and brainwashed by political correctness that we've begun to resemble a massive herd of sheep simply waiting around to be mowed down by the forces of globalism. Steve Bannon doesn't want that to happen. Do you?

Recently, two Scandinavian girls -- Louisa Vesterager Jespersen of Denmark and Maren Ueland of Norway -- decided to go on vacation to the moderate, liberal, and tolerant Islamic country of Morocco. While heading to the Atlas Mountains, the two either were stalked by a group of Muslims (witness testimony is a bit fuzzy on the details) or they invited a group of Muslim men for a fun, culturally enriching hike.

The two girls did not have the  multicultural experience that thirty years of diversity brainwashing said they would when they decided to “take a chance,” “not judge a book by its cover,” and “let love win.”

Their natural sense of self preservation and distrust of the Other having been wiped as clean as Hillary Clinton’s server by a lifetime of “we are the world” propaganda, Louisa and Maren were allegedly assaulted, raped, and  beheaded by their new Middle Eastern friends.

The horrific story of Louisa and Maren was a genie the establishment media could not keep in the bottle. Several Islam and migration watchdog groups--as well as “hacktivist” sites such as 4Chan--spread the story through social media, forcing the hand of the lying press, which finally went into damage control mode, omitting the gruesome details of the savage butchery on Louisa and Maren. In fact, the allegation that the two Scandinavians were gangraped is entirely omitted in every mainstream media report on this event.

The point here is not to stir up trouble with the Islamic world or with the people of Morocco. In fact, ironically enough, the Moroccan government, making no bones about the gruesome and horrific nature of the crime, has gone into “Saladin mode”, expeditiously rounding up the girls’ killers (and anyone associated with them) to bring the justice of God upon them.  One can only imagine what light sentences the liberal, self-loathing, degenerate, and anti-Christian justice systems of the EU would come up with since they routinely hand out get-out-of-jail-free cards to migrant child rapists, murders and cannibals.

While many have sought to blame ISIS, “terrorism,” or Islam itself for their death, the real guilty party is the Cultural Marxism of the West that taught these girls that the world is a global village and that they should always give someone from the developing world the benefit of the doubt.

By the way, such pointless and unprovoked savagery is not only occurring in the deserts of Morocco.  In the snowy state of Minnesota, in November of this year, a woman was stabbed 14 times by a migrant (for some strange reason, the man’s identity as a Muslim was ignored by the local media). While the Minnesota native survived to tell her tale, there are innumerable instances of migrants and faux refugees murdering, raping and assaulting Americans and receiving slaps on the hand from neurotic and guilt-ridden American jurors.

As Catholics, we cannot let the West disintegrate into a nightmare world in which the souls of our peoples are poisoned with degeneracy, filth, and vice, and the bodies of our children are left prey to an army of desperate migrants pouring in from God knows where. The rule of law must be upheld.

The time for a Bannon-styled Catholic populist political movement is now, since, like it or not, we now face the end of the history of our civilization. Western, Catholic identity must be asserted in the public sphere, working collaboratively (but not “ecumenically”) with allies in other faiths to restore order and sanity to the West.

Which way are you prepared to go, Western Catholic man?
