Getting to Know the New Secretary of the College of Cardinals

At the end of January, Brazilian Msgr Ilson de Jesus Montanari – the 54 year-old secretary to the Congregation for Bishops – was asked by Pope Francis to assume double duty as the all-powerful secretary of the College of Cardinals.

Somehow I don’t think he’ll turn out to be a big friend of the TLM.

He is the author of Christian Fables, Legends of Christmas and Gods of Wasteland (Fifty Years of Rock ‘n’ Roll) and regularly delivers addresses and conferences to Catholic groups about the Mass, home-schooling, and the culture question. Together with his wife, Carol Lynn and their seven children, Mr. Matt currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota.
