"The great themes of opening and closing papal addresses of the Second Vatican Council-- the need to apply “medicinal mercy” rather than heed “prophets of doom,” and the spirituality of the Good Samaritan-- remain relevant today, Cardinal Bassetti said.
REMNANT COMMENT: Right, so, incredibly (!) spring has sprung, despite the bodies of millions of aborted babies piled high all over the world, 'Catholic' Ireland's recent plunge into the sea of sodomy, the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to make homosexual marriage the law of the land, massive defections from the Catholic Church which over the past half century have more than decimated the remnant of Christendom, rampant apostasy even in seminaries and so-called Catholic universities, and the fact that Catholics are now divorcing and contracepting at nearly the same rate as their non-Catholic counterparts. Despite all of the systemic rot and loss of faith, the promised springtime has finally come marching in.
Well halle-dang-lujah!
Yep, Pope Francis just jetted on down to Latin America—the once-Catholic land his own immediate predecessor admitted is now "hemorrhaging" souls into non-Catholic sects—made a few forgettable speeches, shocked the world by accepting a sacrilegious gift rich in the symbolism of Godless communism, and that’s about all there is to it. Everything's awesome now!
In fact, it's all so awesome that we'd like to join the Cardinal in basking in the warm and fuzzy light of this new springtime with a little number we call: Everything is Awesome.
Take it away, boys:
