Erotic Artist Honored by the Vatican

According to an article at Express.CO.UK, "An artist who specializes in erotic images of pouting, pop art-style lips has become the first British woman to have a portrait of the Pope accepted for display in the Vatican

"The painting, by Stoke-on-Trent born Sara Pope, will hang alongside work by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Titian and Raphael that help attract more than five million visitors a year. Pope, 42, said: “The walls of the Vatican are covered floor to ceiling in Raphael masterpieces the public doesn’t get to see, which is awe-inducing.

"Art expert Colin Winston-Fletcher, of London’s Lawrence Alkin Gallery, said: 'It’s a wonderful honour for British art to have one of our artists’ work on display at the Vatican, especially when it’s a contemporary piece. Religion itself isn’t considered to be terribly well connected to the world of modern art so it’s exceptional that a new, young, female artist has been accepted by the establishment, especially when the work for which she is best known is quite sexual and erotic. You don’t usually associate that with the Catholic church."  FULL Express.co.UK report  Here

REMNANT COMMENT: Francis the Humble distinguishes himself with yet another publicity stunt which, in the process, scandalizes children everywhere. So now it's erotic artists in the Vatican, eh Francis?  Well played!  Time to hide the pope's latest from the children lest they be scandalized once again.

Calls to mind a passage from the Bible, Mark 19: "And whosoever shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he were cast into the sea."

(What's that you say?  It wasn't necessarily the pope but rather just some idiot in the Vatican that approved this outrage?  Yeah, okay. Thanks.)
