Father John Echert, Ministering to the Souls of Soldiers in the Mideast Father John Echert, Ministering to the Souls of Soldiers in the Mideast
Editor’s Note: Whenever I hear it said that Catholic priests who continue to serve our war-torn Church from within the establishment are playing the part of the coward for not joining a traditionalist fraternity or society, my blood begins to boil. The following is the transcript of a sermon delivered a few weeks ago by a diocesan priest here in St. Paul. Father Echert has been providing daily Traditional Latin Masses in this archdiocese ever since 2007, and before that he opened his church willingly and enthusiastically to the TLM shortly after he was made pastor of the Church of St. Augustine in South St. Paul. A relatively young military chaplain who has served in Iraq and in various dangerous locations in the Mideast, Father’s courage seems to recognize no limits, unquestionably loyal to the Church but utterly unafraid to speak the truth no matter the personal costs. So the next time you’re tempted to claim that only priests trying to “save their skins” stay on and serve within our occupied Church, please remember Father Echert and the many good priests just like him who cannot find it within themselves to abandon their flocks to modernist priests during the present siege, and so have determined to stay on and hold the Catholic ground come what may. And as you read the following sermon, please consider the courage in the face of evil that is required of a priest first to deliver this sermon in the present climate and then to give the “rad-trad” Remnant permission to publish it. God bless you, Father! And, for what it’s worth, when they come for you, which now begins to seem almost inevitable, we’ve got your back!   Father Miguel Pro, pray for us and for our courageous priests. MJM

My Friends in Christ,

It has now been one week since the diabolical Supreme Court decision which now makes same-sex marriage a universal right for Americans. How ironic that in the days leading up to this national holiday that celebrates the Independence of the United States, the highest court in the land should abuse its power in such a blatant act against true human liberty and rights as determined by God.

None of us should be surprised by this ruling, as it is consistent with the sorts of legal determinations that have been made by this and other courts for decades, not only here in America but in many other nations and places as well.

On this week’s Vortex, Michael Voris, possibly the most committed critic of the Society of St. X on the Internet today, informs his fans that:

"From the bogus visions of Medjugorje to the schismatic existence of the SSPX to the mad ramblings of dissidents in seminaries and Catholic universities, Rome rarely slaps down anything. And the problem is that as long as something isn't condemned, the followers or adherents of said issue can say, "Well, Rome hasn't said we're condemned, so we are okay.”

Michael Matt compares the rabid approach to the Society of St. Pius X on the part of CMTV to that of the very mainstream Catholic Herald this week, and asks one simple question: What is Michael Voris really up to?

Jeffrey Sachs

“The real secret of magic lies in the performance.”
 ~David Copperfield

He’s Back!

Jeffrey Sachs, the UN’s Mr. Sustainable Development, returns for his 6th repeat environmental performance at the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Social Science (PASS), as the master illusionist of the UN Sustainable Development shell game.

On July 22nd, Sachs will perform his magic at the Vatican’s latest leftist political convention for radical politicians, like NY Mayor Bill DeBlasio (friend of Jeff Sachs) and Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown. Several other U.S. Mayors are expected to attend this political theatre as the Vatican confers its final blessing on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

A Church in Ruins A Church in Ruins

Even in the very depths of the worst possible of worst-case scenarios of crisis in the Catholic Church, denial is not helpful. The crocodile does not care how tightly we close our eyes as it eats us.

For some time now, with an exponentially growing audience of new and deeply alarmed Catholics, Mike Matt and I have discussed the need to restate the basic points of the Traditionalist position, to locate it in the context of the history of the Church over the last century and our current crisis. To do this, I have been revisiting some old books. Even for someone who read my way out of Novusordoist conservatism and into the Traditionalist position, it can be extremely valuable to review what brought us to this dire condition.

“The tongue cannot claim to be ignorant of what the teeth are doing.”  ~African Proverb.

The battle continues to rage between the Vatican’s population control experts who support Pope Francis’ environmental agenda, and the Catholic pro life movement. The Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences (PASS) serves as the battleground, where its Chancellor, Bishop Sanchez Sorondo continues to defend the Academy’s reliance on virulent abortion proponents, like Jeffrey Sachs of the Director of the UN Sustainable Development Network. Bishop Sorondo defended the choice of his experts by stating that they were participating “on the questions of climate change and modern slavery” and that abortion was not mentioned during the conference. His weak defense is reminis cent of the African proverb, “Much silence makes a mighty noise.”

Preamble

Among the Catholic faithful the conviction grows that the ongoing crisis in the Church and the drastic moral decline of our civilization have entered a critical new phase which represents a turning point in the history of the world.

In the Church, a Synod on the Family has devolved into a battle to defend the indissolubility of marriage from an attack within, pitting cardinal against cardinal and bishop against bishop. The Synod has produced a midterm relatio, approved by the Pope himself, which calls for the admission of divorced and remarried Catholics to Holy Communion on a “case by case” basis without any renunciation of adulterous relations, contrary to the explicit teaching of Pope John Paul II in line with the perennial discipline of the Church. [1] The same document speaks of “valuing” the “homosexual orientation” while recognizing the “precious support for the life of the partners” supposedly provided by “homosexual unions.” [2] Bishop Athanasius Schneider rightly observes that “[t]his is the first time in Church History that such a heterodox text was actually published as a document of an official meeting of Catholic bishops under the guidance of a pope, even though the text only had a preliminary character.” [3]
Televangelist Kenneth Copeland "Blesses" Pope Francis? Televangelist Kenneth Copeland "Blesses" Pope Francis?
Today the internet is buzzing, again, with something that Pope Francis has said that could be seen as a heresy by Catholics paying attention. And once again, it comes in the form of vague, indefinable, platitudinous terms that could be interpreted any way the listener wants. But we have another little Franciscan gem that hides something very pernicious indeed: the notion that God can change His mind.

Our friend Carol Glatz reports
"Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox must pray together and work hand-in-hand helping the poor, Pope Francis told thousands of Catholic charismatics and members of other Christian communities.

If the devil “unites us in death, who are we to divide ourselves in life?” he said, adding that all Christians can and must pray together, as they have all received the same baptism and are striving to follow Christ." The pope said Christian unity was the work of the Holy Spirit, which meant Christians need to pray together in a “spiritual ecumenism, an ecumenism of prayer.”

Against the Wolves Featured

Written by

Does Hell exist? Were Adam and Eve real people?  Was Moses real? Did he part the Red Sea? Did he write the first five books of the Bible?  What exactly are we Catholics allowed to believe now that the wolves have "updated" our Church?

It was midmorning. My husband and I were driving along I-75 when an old, slightly beat-up truck passed us on the right. There was a sign nailed to it—a flat white board with big black letters. We laughed when we read it. It was so true.
God is great. Beer is good. People are crazy.

A friend told me later that the words were from a country music song by Billy Currington. The sign wasn’t original, but that didn’t change the impact of those three short sentences. The world has indeed gone mad. This isn’t hyperbole. I’m a mental health professional.1 I know crazy when I see it.

Things are not as they should be.

Remnant readers may know that I have become a regular guest on the Mike Church Show, Channel 125 on the Sirius Radio Network, which is known as Patriot Radio. The same channel features the “conservative” talk shows of Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Glenn Beck, along with Brietbart News.

I put the word “conservative” in scare quotes as to Hannity, Levin and Beck, but the remarkable thing about Mike Church is that he is an authentic conservative, by which I mean a conservative who views political, social and moral questions from a traditional Catholic perspective as reflected in the papal and conciliar Magisterium before the late unpleasantness of the imaginary “renewal” of Vatican II.

Indeed, over the past year or so Mike Church has emerged as the only traditionally Catholic conservative in talk radio today, anywhere in the world. And I mean traditional. Not only during my appearances on the show, but now thematically, Mike has turned the longest running political talk show on Sirius Radio into an unabashed presentation of the Social Kingship of Christ, traditional Catholic moral teaching, and even the traditional Latin liturgy as the solution to what is evidently otherwise a terminal civilizational crisis. I have been invited on the show numerous times to defend all of these things explicitly, to speak of the one true Church, and even to call upon conservative Protestants to enter the Church if they are serious about saving our nation and our civilization.

Does the Pope Really Want a Debate? Featured

Written by
Pope Francis, Margaret Archer, Bishop Sorondo Pope Francis, Margaret Archer, Bishop Sorondo

The Church knows that honest debate must be encouraged among experts.”~Laudato Si, Pope Francis

Throughout Laudato Si, Pope Francis states that he is open to a debate and a dialogue on the environmental issues raised in the encyclical. In fact, nearly 21 times in the body of the encyclical, Francis urges for dialogue among religions, ideologies and people. The Pope also calls for a debate on the environment solutions some 12 times in the encyclical. Although he says he wants contrary opinions debated and presented, is that the reality at the Vatican and this papacy.

The very language of the encyclical exposes the real intent of the Vatican. In the first sentence of section 14 of the encyclical, the Pope calls for a “new dialogue” a “conversation” about the environmental challenges. Yet, by the end of that very same paragraph, the Pontiff arrives at a completely contrary position:

St. Therese of Lisieux Promotes Devotion to the Holy Face St. Therese of Lisieux Promotes Devotion to the Holy Face
This is another sad day for America. By this direct salvo against the Holy Sacrament of Marriage, by attacking one sacrament, one attacks them all.  In attacking the sacraments, one attacks Christ to HIS FACE, as He is the reason and source for all of the sacraments.

Thus this national-public act of blasphemy against Christ and His Sacrament of Marriage demands national-public acts of reparation.

  • ETERNAL FATHER, we offer Thee the Holy Face of Jesus,      covered with blood, sweat, dust and spittle, in reparation for the crime      of those who profane the Holy Sacrament of Marriage.
