Can We Accurately Diagnose the Bergoglio Disorder Afflicting the Church?

For the sake of argument, think about how the Catholic world would react if we soon had a saintly pope who restored the Church’s liturgical practices to their pre-Vatican II state, solemnly denounced all of the heresies that have proliferated since Vatican II, excommunicated the various false shepherds, and embarked upon a holy path of promoting the rights of Christ the King. Almost certainly we would find that all of the nominal Catholics who hang on Bergoglio’s every word would no longer think much of the papacy. And all of us who feel varying degrees of persecution from Rome would be united in thanksgiving, rejoicing that God had answered our prayers.

Today, however, Satan gloats over the divisions among those who would be united under a holy pope. Through his diligent efforts, Satan has fostered a tragic situation that has divided us into opposing camps: those who believe Francis is the pope, those who believe that Benedict XVI is the pope, those who believe we have not had a pope since Pius XII, and those who simply do not know what to make of the unfortunate situation. Satan takes especial pleasure when we attack each other over these differences.

As our omniscient and loving God knows, though, we would not face the same divisions about the Bergoglio crisis if the Church had unambiguously taught what Catholics should do in these precise circumstances. Just as surgeons may fight over the right course of treatment when there is no precedent, we cannot agree upon the right way to respond to the current crisis because the Church has never seen anything like it. Moreover, we do not (yet) have a St. Robert Bellarmine in our midst who can help us work together towards a cure.

Without judging the man’s intentions or the state of his soul, we must acknowledge that Bergoglio presents himself to the world as an unholy and heretical man.

But if we can set aside thoughts of a cure for the moment, we will have a much better chance of agreeing upon the proper diagnosis of the Bergoglio disorder plaguing the Mystical Body of Christ. And if ever we could agree upon the diagnosis, then we may find that God will give us the grace to work together toward finding the cure. To that end, we can begin with what we know as faithful Catholics:

Bergoglio is the Anti-Catholic Man. Without judging the man’s intentions or the state of his soul, we must acknowledge that Bergoglio presents himself to the world as an unholy and heretical man. Many faithful Catholics who might take issue with that characterization on the basis that we should never speak that way about a pope would almost certainly see Bergoglio’s words and deeds as heretical and unholy if they did not know his apparent identity.

In a real sense, though, his unholiness and heresy are less important than the fact that he is decidedly anti-Catholic. He unequivocally opposes the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and all those who wish to fight for it. His Canadian trip to join with Trudeau in humiliating the Church is yet another attempt to strip the Church of every last bit of its external truth, goodness, and beauty.

Even the sedevacantists must acknowledge that, rightfully or not, Bergoglio ostensibly occupies the position of pope in the organization that the world views as the Catholic Church.

Permitted by God. God permits this unfathomable crisis in His Church for a reason. As Jesus told St. Peter after he had cut off Malchus’s ear in the Garden of Gethsemane, He permitted the soldiers to take Him: “Thinkest thou that I cannot ask My Father and He will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matthew 26:53). So too, Jesus could end this current crisis in an instant if He so desired, but He permits it for a reason. As we consider the other aspects of the diagnosis, we can better appreciate that reason.

To Wield Power over the Mystical Body of Christ as the Reputed Pope. Almost all divisions among faithful Catholics on the issue of Bergoglio revolve around the question of whether he is actually the pope. But even the sedevacantists must acknowledge that, rightfully or not, Bergoglio ostensibly occupies the position of pope in the organization that the world views as the Catholic Church. As such, even if we say Bergoglio is not the pope, and that the Conciliar Church is not the Church, we are still left with the fact that Pope Francis is causing unprecedented damage to the Mystical Body of Christ.

Clearly the question of Bergoglio’s role in the Church is of utmost importance from a theological perspective and all faithful Catholics should sympathize with the sedevacantist position — that such a man cannot possibly be the Vicar of Christ — even if they do not reach the same conclusion. For their part, though, sedevacantists should understand that they do not lessen the damage to the Mystical Body of Christ by merely saying Francis is not the pope any more than we can lessen the damage to the United States by saying Biden is not our president. We must judge the success of the intended cure by the resulting health of the body rather than our satisfaction at attacking the disease.

It can be no mere coincidence that Bergoglio’s every step advances the aims of Satan and the globalists.

In Service of Satan and the Globalists. It can be no mere coincidence that Bergoglio’s every step advances the aims of Satan and the globalists. Although we can hope that he would recoil at the accusation that he serves Satan, he appears to delight in his service of the globalists. This is one of the key reasons we cannot merely declare he is not the pope and consider the matter closed. We are the only ones who stand in the way of what Satan and the globalists want to do, and if we simply say Bergoglio is not pope — without doing anything to actually remove him from office — we cede the battlefield to the enemies.

To Advance the Crisis in the Church. It is important to realize that Bergoglio is advancing a crisis in the Church that existed prior to his ordination to the priesthood. The fact that God permits this crisis to grow worse should alert us to the likelihood that our previous responses have not adequately addressed the crisis. Doctors treating a patient may begin with a mild treatment in hopes that a disease can be cured without drastic measures. But if the mild treatment fails they will know that a stronger remedy is needed. At least in part, God is permitting Bergoglio to show us that the mild responses to the post-Vatican II crisis have been inadequate.

Through a Calculated Process of Destruction. As John-Henry Westen and Maike Hickson reported in a 2015 LifeSite article, one of Bergoglio’s closest advisers, Argentinean Archbishop Victor Fernández, explained the calculating nature of everything we see from Bergoglio:

“The pope goes slow because he wants to be sure that the changes have a deep impact. The slow pace is necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the changes. He knows there are those hoping that the next pope will turn everything back around. If you go slowly it's more difficult to turn things back. . . . You have to realize that he is aiming at reform that is irreversible.”

Bergoglio knows that if he goes too far, too fast, he will jeopardize everything. When it comes to the question of heresy, he apparently does not care what God or rational Catholics think of him— he simply needs to avoid a situation in which he is removed from the papacy. It appears that he knows he can generally stay safe by avoiding any clear and direct attacks on the truths contained in the Credo, and by never trying to define anything infallibly.

In an especially tragic way, the errors percolating in the Church have now poisoned much of the world, leading to further destruction.

Which Causes Many Souls to Be Lost. As has been the case with all of the post-Vatican II reforms, many souls are lost when the apparent leaders of the Catholic Church use their positions to advance anti-Catholic errors. In an especially tragic way, the errors percolating in the Church have now poisoned much of the world, leading to further destruction. All of this adds to the great sense of urgency to do all we can to cooperate with God’s grace to expedite the end of the crisis. It also points to a fundamental component of the “cure” —we must do all in our power to make sure we stop the spread of the Bergoglio disorder by charitably denouncing his errors.

But Which Will Ultimately Purify the Church. Archbishop Viganò wrote of this concept of purification in his recent declaration about Cardinal Cupich’s aggressions against the Institute of Christ the King:

“I trust that the Canons of Christ the King and all of the Ecclesia Dei institutes will be able to see in these days of trial a precious opportunity for purification, courageously witnessing to the necessary coherence between the profession of Faith and its cultic expression in the Mass, and the consequent irreconcilability between these and the doctrinal and liturgical deviations of Vatican II. Because it is not possible to celebrate the Mass of Saint Pius V and at the same time to accept the errors of its enemies.”

It is scarcely Catholic to pretend that we cannot understand why God is permitting this great crisis in the Church and world — throughout salvation history the answer has always involved His honor and glory and the salvation of souls. He wants us to turn to Him and do all that we can to know, love, serve Him. He loves us so much that He wants to give us every reason to do His will — and as this crisis deepens, more and more people are realizing that He is the Divine Physician Who alone can heal us.

Bergoglio is the anti-Catholic man permitted by God to wield power over the Mystical Body of Christ as the reputed pope, in service of Satan and the globalists, to advance the crisis in the Church.

Putting it all together, we arrive at the following diagnosis of the Bergoglio disorder:

Bergoglio is the anti-Catholic man permitted by God to wield power over the Mystical Body of Christ as the reputed pope, in service of Satan and the globalists, to advance the crisis in the Church through a calculated process of destruction which causes many souls to be lost but which will ultimately purify the Church.

If this is the diagnosis, certain aspects of the cure necessarily follow. We must try to do God’s will as faithfully as possible. We must fight for the truth and never compromise with error. And, in a special way, we must live by the words of Our Lady of Fatima, who gave us so much of the cure on October 13, 1917: “I have come to ask men to repent of their sins, to change their lives, to stop offending Our Lord who is already offended so much, and to recite the Holy Rosary.”

Have enough of us done this? If a surgeon told us that he could not operate unless we followed the pre-surgery protocols, we would not be surprised to have him turn us away on the day of surgery if we had ignored his directions. Why would we think the Divine Physician would treat us any differently? If we do not have a cure for the Bergoglio disorder (which is only the advanced stage of a long crisis) perhaps it is because we have refused to prepare as He has requested. Let us first do all that Jesus has asked of us, and then we may find that He swiftly does the rest.

Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us!
