THE PERMANENT COUP: Taking Trump Down Was Just the Beginning

On Thursday, November 4, 2021, the United States Department of Justice Special Counsel’s Office released a statement which begins as follows.

Special Counsel John Durham today announced that a federal grand jury returned an indictment in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia charging Igor Danchenko, 43, a Russian citizen residing in Virginia, with five counts of making false statements to the FBI. The charges in the indictment stem from statements made by Danchenko relating to the sources he used in providing information to a U.K. investigative firm that prepared what are identified in the indictment as “Company Reports.” (https://www.justice.gov/sco/pr/russian-national-indicted-making-false-statements-fbi)

The only “Russian collusion” was between Russian operatives and Washington elites, and the target was always Donald Trump, or more accurately the “deplorables” who voted for him.

With this, we enter the denouement of what was a long and unprecedented chapter in our nation’s history. There will surely be more indictments to come. The only question is how far Special Counsel John Durham believes he can, or is willing to, go. Because what Durham is investigating is nothing less than a coup d’état. The target was the forty-fifth president of the United States, Donald John Trump. The mastermind was the forty-fourth president, Barack Hussein Obama (who, incidentally, has yet to produce a paper copy of his birth certificate). One president, possibly illegitimate in the eyes of the law, orchestrated a takedown of another president, illegitimate in the eyes of the corrupt elite which rule America now.

The details of the coup are perhaps even more shocking than the basic outline. The coup was president against president, but also much more, because on one president’s side stood virtually the entire federal array. The coup was not just mano y mano, but all hands on deck. For more than four years, Obama and his erstwhile rivals, the Clintons, worked with former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation James Comey, Comey’s deputy director (and then acting director) Andrew McCabe, and a host of Beltway insiders and mass-media enablers to do what nearly everyone in academia, Hollywood, and Wall Street was screaming for: take out Trump. Another former FBI director, Robert Mueller, perjured himself before Congress to protect the plotters once the scheme had been revealed. The United States federal intelligence and “law enforcement” agencies continue, to this hour, to lie about what happened, and to threaten and even arrest and imprison those who refuse to go along with the official lie.

The scope and frequency of the lies our leaders and elites told is probably has no parallel in our nation’s history. Watergate was nothing compared to what has transpired these past five or so years.

For this reason—that is, because nearly everyone in the Washington elite and elsewhere was in on the coup or at least cheering it on—Durham’s indictment of Danchenko hit like a depth charge in the fake-news media. Danchenko is a nobody, but he’s the first nobody in a chain that quickly reaches to some very big somebodies. Perhaps fearful of what is coming down the pike, some fake-news outlets, although far from all, even admitted in part that their reporting on the coup (although of course no fake-news media calls it this) was wrong.

But what was news to the fake-news media was not news to the rest of us. The outline of this treachery and many of the details have been available in non-mainstream media outlets for years. The Durham indictment of Danchenko, an indictment which directly undermines the “Company Reports” put together by British spy hack Christopher Steele (in reality, a dezinformatsiya dossier paid for by the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign and fed to the Clintons’ FBI accomplices to deceive FISA courts and allow Obama and his minions to spy on Trump and his associates), establishes as true what half the country has long suspected. We have been lied to, daily, by the media and the government.

In truth, though, it was Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta who was working with Yanukovych in Ukraine.

But that is not the entirety of the story. In The Permanent Coup: How Enemies Foreign and Domestic Targeted the American President (New York, NY: Center Street, 2020), veteran investigative reporter Lee Smith lays out how a small team of Republicans, led by a heroic patriot and former Trump defense official named Kashyap Patel and sheltered from Democrat malfeasance by California congressman Devin Nunes, tracked down the plotters and exposed the facts about the coup. The Permanent Coup is a follow-up to Smith’s companion book on this subject: The Plot against the President. In The Plot against the President, Smith provided the backdrop to the Patel/Nunes team’s work to uncover the truth about the Washington establishment’s vendetta against someone who was never supposed to be president. The Permanent Coup focuses less on the Patel/Nunes team and more on what they found.

And what they found is, in a word, terrifying. Whatever Durham chooses to do, it is now a matter of recorded history that Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton teamed up with dozens of highly placed officials, agents, lawyers, lying politicians such as Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, and Eric Swalwell, and, yes, Russian spies. Smith’s books make it unmistakable; Durham’s indictment merely places the imprimatur on what Smith has made plain. The only “Russian collusion” was between Russian operatives and Washington elites, and the target was always Donald Trump, or more accurately the “deplorables” who voted for him.

As with the “Russian collusion” hoax, the Ukraine hysteria surrounding Manafort and Trump—both in 2016 and in 2020—was to conceal what the Democrats themselves were up to.

Trump had nothing to do with Russia and never “colluded” with any Russian in any way. And yet, he was sandbagged for the entirety of his presidency by allegations and accusations that he had conspired with Vladimir Putin to win the White House. The absurdity of that claim should have eliminated it from serious consideration, but for half a decade nearly the entirety of the political, academic, and corporate media elite not only believed it, but insisted that anyone who didn’t was a traitor to his country.

Now, with the Durham indictment and Lee Smith’s second book—and some quiet retractions of fake news by a handful of chastened outlets—the tables are turned, and it is clear that it was the accusers all along who were guilty of the very thing they were accusing Trump and his supporters of doing. The scope and frequency of the lies our leaders and elites told is probably has no parallel in our nation’s history. Watergate was nothing compared to what has transpired these past five or so years.

But is it really as bad as I am making it out to be? Some will contest that I am going too far by arguing that it is the Washington establishment as a whole, and not just a few bad actors, which is to blame for the high treason committed against President Donald John Trump. To such skeptics I would recommend that after they finish reading both Lee Smith volumes introduced above, they turn to John Solomon and Seamus Bruner’s 2020 book Fallout: Nuclear Bribes, Russian Spies, and the Washington Lies that Enriched the Clinton and Biden Dynasties (New York, NY: Bombardier).

Readers may be interested to know that the name of this “farce,” as one industry expert termed it (173), was “Building Back Better Communities.” If you want to know how “president” Biden’s “Build Back Better” is likely to go, read up on the original in Haiti.

One of the set pieces to the “Russian collusion” hoax was the corruption of business and government in Ukraine. In Fallout, Solomon and Bruner help explain how an August 14, 2016 New York Times report about Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort provided the Clintons with the pretext they needed to gin up suspicion about Trump’s dealings in eastern Europe and Russia. This was layered on top of the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” coup against Trump and his campaign. (201-203) As the “Russian collusion” fake news took root in the American media landscape, a concurrent strain of hysteria, about Trump’s ties to Ukraine, emerged to provide Trump’s assailants with an additional source of justification for their coup.

Readers will recall that article of impeachment were brought against Trump twice, and that neither impeachment proceeding was directly about Russia. The first impeachment proceedings—as the Chinese coronavirus was ravaging Asia and heading inexorably for the United States—were brought over a false report about a telephone conversation President Trump had with the Ukrainian president, the newly-elected Volodymyr Zelensky. This was the culmination (although not the end—the lies continue) of a long train of sub-hysteria originating in the 2016 hit operation by the Clintons against Trump over Ukraine. Manafort, the 2016 allegations went, had illegally lobbied Trump on behalf of then-president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych. Yanukovych was notoriously friendly with Vladimir Putin. So, the fictitious story went, Manafort must have been acting as one half of a go-between act, with Yanukovych relaying messages to Manafort so that Manafort could communicate Putin’s wishes to Trump.

Mitch McConnell, John Kerry, the Bushes, the Bidens, an entire company of congressmen and -women and senators, and, yes, Jared Kushner have their snouts in the trough.

In truth, though, it was Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta who was working with Yanukovych in Ukraine. (166) And Ukraine was always a sideshow anyway, as Fallout makes clear. The Podesta dealings were part of a much larger scandal in which Hillary Clinton used her position as a senator from New York and then as Secretary of State under Obama to secure a massive buyout of American uranium by the Kremlin.

Ukraine was tangential to the Trump Russia hoax, but very much central to the corruption which has taken over Washington. For example, in Fallout we read often about future “president” Joseph Biden and his delinquent son Hunter. The Bidens have had arguably the most corrupt dealings of all with Ukraine. Hunter Biden had a very lucrative position on the board of directors of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma for five years, from April 2014 to April 2019, despite having no experience in the energy sector and nothing tangible to offer to the Burisma executives by way of energy or business advice. But then, what Burisma wanted was not Hunter’s pearls of wisdom about energy. What they wanted was a back door to his father. Leaked documents indicate that Burisma employed Hunter Biden to secure favorable treatment from his then-vice president (and possibly future presidential candidate) Joe Biden, referenced in Burisma communications as “the Big Guy.” Vice President Biden even boasted of getting Ukrainian special prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired (using American aid as leverage) in order to stop an investigation into Burisma.

As with the “Russian collusion” hoax, the Ukraine hysteria surrounding Manafort and Trump—both in 2016 and in 2020—was to conceal what the Democrats themselves were up to. Manafort failed to register as a foreign agent and was probably improperly taking money from Ukrainian sources, but there is no evidence that he influenced Trump on Ukraine or Russian policy in favor of Russia. It was, in fact, the Democrats who were doing just that, especially the Bidens and the Clintons. (Bill Clinton was in on the deal, too, earning extravagant sums for giving breezy speeches in Moscow, a transparent bribe directed at his increasingly presidential-looking wife.) Impeachment articles were brought against Trump over a fake “whistleblower” (in reality, a Deep State patsy) report involving aid to Ukraine, but it was not Trump but Biden who was guilty of the charge. The coup against Trump, the permanent coup, was always about running interference for the Democrats as much as it was about getting a distasteful patriot out of the White House.

The United States is now often compared to a third-world country, where such corruption is common, but I think in truth the kind of free-for-all that we see in Washington today could take place only in a suicidal superpower.

To go even deeper than the Smith books and Fallout reveal into what the Clintons and Bidens and the rest of Washington have been into these past couple of decades, I recommend two books by investigative journalist and author Peter Schweizer: Clinton Cash (New York, NY: Harper, 2015), and Secret Empires (New York, NY: Harper, 2018). Clinton Cash contains even more information about how the “flabulous duo” Bill and Killary (excuse me, Hillary) helped the Russians take over American uranium supplies (Chapter Three, “Hillary’s Reset: The Russian Uranium Deal”). Exposing America and the world to the consequences of putting Vladimir Putin in charge of our uranium is certainly criminal, but this Clinton crime constitutes just one part of the book. The Clintons have profited off of “Colombian timber and oil deals,” too, selling out the rainforests of Latin America to enrich themselves (Chapter Nine), and have exalted warlords and dictators in Kazakhstan (Chapter Two) and Africa (Chapter Eight) in exchange for even more cash for the Clinton Foundation (which, perhaps for branding and also laundering purposes, has undergone frequent name changes over the years). The motivation for the permanent coup by the Clinton camp is obvious. Trump had to go because he was interrupting one of the most lucrative grifting operations on the planet. The Donald was keeping the “flabulous duo” from their usual racketeering.

As Catholics this kind of corruption should warn us off of working for or with the federal government. But it should also hit our consciences in other ways, too. Most shocking to me from Clinton Cash was Chapter Ten, “Disaster Capitalism Clinton-Style: The 2010 Haitian Relief Effort.” After a horrific earthquake ripped through Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, the Clintons took over “relief” and provided the Haitians with little more than a paltry few ramshackle abodes. (Readers may be interested to know that the name of this “farce,” as one industry expert termed it (173), was “Building Back Better Communities.” If you want to know how “president” Biden’s “Build Back Better” is likely to go, read up on the original in Haiti.) The beneficiaries of all this were not the Haitian people, but Hillary’s brother Tony Rodham, investors who wanted to get in on Haitian mining while the price was driven to rock-bottom prices by the earthquake, clothing retailers who used the poorest of the poor in Haiti as slave labor to improve profit margins, and others looking to earn money off the suffering of Haitians. (169-176) The greed of the Clintons is well established, but it is their heartlessness that stands out most of all.

The downfall of the federal government under the weight of endemic corruption and abuses of human dignity raises serious considerations for American Catholics.

Those who still think that I am cherry-picking information and exaggerating the rot in Washington should read Schweizer’s most recent book, Secret Empires. Here, Schweizer shows that it is not just the Clintons, and not just the Democrats, who are in on the true Washington business of unjust enrichment. Mitch McConnell, John Kerry, the Bushes, the Bidens, an entire company of congressmen and -women and senators, and, yes, Jared Kushner have their snouts in the trough. And it has been going on for a very long time. No one is righteous, no, not one.

Judicial Watch director Tom Fitton wrote, in 2012, what may be one of the most disturbing books on Washington of them all. The Corruption Chronicles: Obama’s Big Secrecy, Big Corruption, and Big Government (New York, NY: Threshold) is a perfect complement (for those who can stomach it) to Secret Empires and Clinton Cash. And also to Lee Smith’s books and Fallout. No one is righteous, no, not one—except for the Don. With the sole exception of Donald John Trump (because while Kushner may have cut sweetheart deals for himself riding on Trump’s coattails, Trump appears not to have had any part of them), those who have occupied the Oval Office since 1988 have engaged in a kind of fire sale of the American republic, selling it off piecemeal and pocketing foreign cash in exchange.

Washington in 2021 is much worse than Berlin circa 1939.

The United States is now often compared to a third-world country, where such corruption is common, but I think in truth the kind of free-for-all that we see in Washington today could take place only in a suicidal superpower (to paraphrase the great Pat Buchanan). No third-world country has the resources, or could muster the chutzpah, to engage in such brazen, infamous, and heinous crimes as our “elected” leaders and their henchmen and -women have and still do. Reading all five of the books I introduce here is highly recommended, but choosing and reading only one will give you more than enough information to decide for yourself what kind of government we have.

The coup against Donald Trump was bad enough, but there is even more which must concern us. The downfall of the federal government under the weight of endemic corruption and abuses of human dignity raises serious considerations for American Catholics. In my view, any cooperation with the Washington regime must be avoided. It would seem that conscience would not allow any Catholic to hold office or work in any bureau or department in the federal government. Washington in 2021 is much worse than Berlin circa 1939. In 1939, the National Socialists had not yet started the full-scale, programmatic murder of Jews and other hated groups. In 2021, Washington has murdered more than sixty million children, and is preparing (with the blessing of the “Holy Father” in Rome) to murder many more. When “president” Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi got Pope Francis’ personal benediction this fall, it was the red wax on the compact between the Vatican and Washington. The original permanent coup is the devil’s against God—the origin of man’s hateful behavior on earth, and the direct inspiration for Francis’ complicity with a regime soaked in the blood of sacrificed children. It is open season on babies now, and no Catholic should be part of the killing spree. (Cooperation with Newchurch is also, incidentally, materially no different than cooperating with Washington.) Federal contractors should cancel those contracts and seek other sources of income. Anything other than refusal to comply with the anti-human mandates of the federal government, indeed any collaboration with the federal government in any way, constitutes grave evil.

When “president” Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi got Pope Francis’ personal benediction this fall, it was the red wax on the compact between the Vatican and Washington.

Taken all together, what the above points to is this sobering certainty: Washington is collapsing. I have little doubt that it will flail as it falls, taking as much of the American landscape with it as it can in its death throes. Let us stay far, far away from Washington, DC, perhaps the most corrupt capital by sheer scale and volume in the history of the world.

These are stern conclusions, to be sure. And yet, all is not lost, not by a long shot. The five books reviewed here are frightful, but reading them also gave me a strange kind of hope. Realizing what our government is makes it easier to walk away from it and live our lives as Christians, and not as Washington’s slaves. Knowledge of the permanent coup should inspire us to build our local communities, support our brave police officers and firefighters, and give ourselves to our parishes and the parish schools that once formed one of the cores of parish life. Americans can do this. Our brothers and sisters in other countries, for example those suffering under the anti-Christian tyranny in Australia, are doing it as we speak. The permanent coup is Washington against Trump, Washington against all of us. It is Bergoglio against the Mass, the Vatican against the faithful. But it in the end, the permanent coup is the devil against God. I don’t know how things will work out with John Durham’s investigation. But I do know how the real permanent coup ends.
