Vatican2ism’s Futile War Against Catholicism

As several astute Catholics have observed, Francis’s Traditionis Custodes has abruptly ended the “hermeneutic of continuity” campaign of confusion aimed at convincing the world that, despite all appearances, the reforms of Vatican II were in continuity with the timeless Catholic religion. As the letter accompanying Traditions Custodes made clear, one must choose between the beliefs and practices that Catholics held for nearly two thousand years or those that flow from Vatican II. If they are the same, why must one choose between them?

Whereas the attempt to bridge the gap between Catholicism and the religion animated by Vatican II (Vatican2ism) was endlessly frustrating and futile, evaluating the differences between the religions is comparatively simple and enlightening. To that end, it is worth considering: Vatican2ism’s role in the timeless battle; how and why the religions are different; the purpose of the new religion; why Catholicism is the only religion Vatican2ism rejects; and, finally, how preposterous is Vatican2ism?

There are important apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary that involve prophetic warnings about the infiltration of the Church.

Vatican2ism’s Role in the Timeless Battle. We might be tempted to see the current situation in the Church as a refutation of the Church’s attribute of indefectibilty, and indeed many abandon the Faith because they mistakenly believe that the Church has been overcome. However, God has given us abundant reasons to hold fast to the Faith even if it appears that the enemies have prevailed: we have Our Lord’s promise that the gates of hell will not prevail (Matthew 16:18) and a two thousand year history of the Church overcoming seemingly overwhelming assaults.

In addition, there are important apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary that involve prophetic warnings about the infiltration of the Church.  In the early 1600s, Maria del Buen Suceso de la Purificacion (commonly known as Our Lady of Good Success) appeared to Venerable Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres, a nun cloistered in the Royal Convent of the Immaculate Conception in Quito, Equador. Of particular interest to Catholics today is the message relating to events of the 20th century:

“In this supreme moment of need of the Church, those who should speak will fall silent. Dire times will come, when those who should justly defend the rights of the Church will be blinded. Without servile fear or human respect, they will join the enemies of the Church to help them accomplish their designs. Woe to the error of the wise, to him who governs the Church, the pastor of the flock that my Most Holy Son confided into his care! But when they will appear triumphant and when the authority will abuse their power, committing injustices and oppressing the weak, their downfall will be near. Paralyzed, they will fall to the ground.”

Clearly Our Lady wanted us to understand that there would be a time in which it seemed that the visible authorities of the Church would “join the enemies of the Church to help them accomplish their designs.” And yet we cannot detect any sense in which these calamities would mean that the Church was no longer the Church or that it had lost protection of the Holy Ghost.

In the same light that the Marian apparitions show that the Church will prevail despite diabolical assaults, we can consider Pope Leo XIII’s vision that God had permitted Satan a period of time to seek to destroy the Church. This vision prompted the pope to compose the great prayer to St. Michael the Archangel included in the Leonine Prayers as well as an exorcism against Satan which included this passage (in the original version):

“Behold, very cunning enemies have filled the Church, Spouse of the immaculate Lamb, with bitterness; have watered it with absinthe; they have cast ungodly hands onto all that is desirable in it. Where the See of the blessed Peter and the Chair of Truth were established like a light for the nations, there they have set the throne of abomination of their impiety; in order that, once the shepherd is struck down, they may be able to disperse the flock.”

Certainly Pope Leo XIII did not consider that such a dire situation in the Church would amount to a negation of the consoling doctrine of indefectibility. Neither should we. Rather, as we see the assaults against the Church increase, we should multiply our efforts to accept all of the grace that God will give us.

The establishment of Vatican2ism in opposition to Catholicism is one of the most important achievements of Satan and his minions in the war against God. Satan seeks to insult God and His Church and to lead as many souls to hell as possible. But we know with certainty that Satan will lose in the end — we must strive to be on the winning side by always adhering to true Catholicism, cost what it may.

We have no idea what changes will come tomorrow because only one thing is certain with Vatican2ism: there can be no return to true Catholicism!

How and Why the Religions Are Different. Were it not for the seeming continuity of the papacy (which of course the sedevacantists deny), it would be self-evident that Catholicism and Vatican2ism are different religions: the respective beliefs are frequently at odds with each other on crucial points, and there is almost no resemblance between the liturgical practices of the two religions. No pre-Vatican II saint would recognize Vatican2ism as Catholic; no Vatican2ism prophet actually accepts the beliefs that martyrs died to protect.

Aside from the differences in beliefs and liturgical practices, there is a profound disparity in the way in which adherents believe the proffered truths of these religions. From the Act of Faith, we can see the Catholic basis for believing:

“O my God! I firmly believe that Thou are one God in three Divine Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost; I believe that Thy Divine Son became man, and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou has revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.”

The Act of Faith contains certain Catholic Truths, but of course it omits many others — but we believe “all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches” because God, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived, has revealed them. Once we see the Church as the body established by Jesus to faithfully transmit the Faith to all people until the end of time, we believe based on the authority of the Church and know that we hold the same Faith as every Catholic who has made it to heaven.

How does one believe Vatican2ism? Fortunately, their religion is only about sixty years old, so it should be relatively easy to trace one’s beliefs to those of the founding fathers. Unfortunately, though, the Vatican2ism beliefs can change all the time. Even when the beliefs remain the same, it might be only because one group of bishops lacks the votes to persuade another group of bishops that the religion should change.

If we realize that the actual mastermind behind the new religion (Vatican2ism) is the Prince of darkness, then we can see that the purpose of the new religion must involve insulting God and His Church and leading souls to hell.

This process of continuous change is actually an important aspect of the religion. In his closing speech of Vatican II, Pope Paul VI spoke of the new religion’s love for perpetual change:

“Never before perhaps, so much as on this occasion, has the Church felt the need to know, to draw near to, to understand, to penetrate, serve and evangelize the society in which she lives; and to get to grips with it, almost to run after it, in its rapid and continuous change.”

We have no idea what changes will come tomorrow because only one thing is certain with Vatican2ism: there can be no return to true Catholicism!

The Purpose of the New Religion. If we realize that the actual mastermind behind the new religion is the Prince of darkness, then we can see that the purpose of the new religion must involve insulting God and His Church and leading souls to hell. The human agents of the new religion no longer believe in hell (except possibly for mean traditional Catholics) so they generally have a different purpose for promoting Vatican2ism.

We can see the human agents’ purposes described in various prominent statements from Vatican II:

“This is proposed by the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, which, while bringing together the best energies of the Church and striving for men to welcome more and more favorably the proclamation of salvation, prepares in a certain way and consolidates the path towards that unity of the human race, which constitutes the necessary foundation for the earthly city to be organized in the likeness of the heavenly.” [Pope John XIII’s opening speech at Vatican II]

“By virtue of her mission to shed on the whole world the radiance of the Gospel message, and to unify under one Spirit all men of whatever nation, race or culture, the Church stands forth as a sign of that brotherhood which allows honest dialogue and gives it vigor.” [Gaudium et Spes, Vatican II Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World]

“The promotion of unity belongs to the innermost nature of the Church, for she is, "thanks to her relationship with Christ, a sacramental sign and an instrument of intimate union with God, and of the unity of the whole human race.” Thus she shows the world that an authentic union, social and external, results from a union of minds and hearts, namely from that faith and charity by which her own unity is unbreakably rooted in the Holy Spirit.”  [Gaudium et Spes, Vatican II Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World]

“Secular humanism, revealing itself in its horrible anti-clerical reality has, in a certain sense, defied the council. The religion of the God who became man has met the religion (for such it is) of man who makes himself God. And what happened? Was there a clash, a battle, a condemnation? There could have been, but there was none. . . . The attention of our council has been absorbed by the discovery of human needs (and these needs grow in proportion to the greatness which the son of the earth claims for himself). But we call upon those who term themselves modern humanists, and who have renounced the transcendent value of the highest realities, to give the council credit at least for one quality and to recognize our own new type of humanism: we, too, in fact, we more than any others, honor mankind.” [Pope Paul VI’s closing speech at Vatican II]

Every single change in the name of the Spirit of Vatican II has attempted to dumb-down Catholicism to develop a counterfeit religion that can advance the globalist aims with the apparent authority of the Catholic Church.

The purpose of the new religion is to unite and serve all men, which can only be done by removing from Catholicism all that the world rejects. In his Prometheus: The Religion of Man, Fr. Alvaro Calderon describes the new religion as “the Religion of Man,” built on the principles of humanism (which Pope Paul VI affirmed above). Fr. Calderon identifies a key change that needed to be made to Catholicism to create the new religion:

“The only thing humanism needed to make the Gospel amicable and exploit its goodness was to dissolve the Cross of Christ. For integral humanism, the great - perhaps the only - defect of medieval Christianity was having centered the mystery of Christ in Sacrifice, coloring the religion with its negative hue, so repugnant to the heart of man. . . The Word became flesh to satisfy the debt of men to God, because by His obedience unto death He Glorified Him beyond all measure and opened to sinners the possibility of redemption. To abolish the need for the blood price, the humanist wizards annulled the bill of debt. If sin does not leave us indebted to God, the sacrifice of the Cross in an unnecessary detail in the mystery of Christ, and we can ignore it.”

Once you remove the Cross of Christ, with all of its doctrinal and moral implications, the religion becomes much more comfortable and unobjectionable to non-Catholics. How many of the novelties of Vatican2ism could stand if its proponents still believed and taught that anyone wishing to save his soul must take up his cross and follow Jesus?

Every single change in the name of the Spirit of Vatican II has attempted to dumb-down Catholicism to develop a counterfeit religion that can advance the globalist aims with the apparent authority of the Catholic Church. Thus, instead of eradicating sin we can focus on eradicating carbon emissions; instead of teaching the Gospels to the nations, we can embrace all men as they are (as long as they are vaccinated, of course). Vatican2ism is the single most important force in convincing mankind to abandon their resistance to the demands of the New World Order. If the world saw true Catholicism instead of Vatican2ism when it looked to Rome, the Global Reset would never stand a chance of succeeding.

We now see, more clearly than ever, that the religion called Catholicism is the only one that Francis no longer accepts.

Why Catholicism Is the Only Religion Vatican2ism Rejects. We know from Pope John Paul II’s Prayer Meeting at Assisi that the new religion embraces all others. Francis has, of course, reemphasized this in various ways.

The Vatican II document Nostra Aetate provided the basis for these efforts to accept all religions, even if it allows a special role for Christ:

“The Catholic Church rejects nothing of what is true and holy in these religions. It has a high regard for the manner of life and conduct, the precepts and doctrines which, although differing in many ways from its own teaching, nevertheless often reflect a ray of that truth which enlightens all men and women. Yet it proclaims and is in duty bound to proclaim without fail, Christ who is the way, the truth and the life (Jn 1:6). In him, in whom God reconciled all things to himself (see 2 Cor 5:18-19), people find the fullness of their religious life. The Church, therefore, urges its sons and daughters to enter with prudence and charity into discussion and collaboration with members of other religions. Let Christians, while witnessing to their own faith and way of life, acknowledge, preserve and encourage the spiritual and moral truths found among non-Christians, together with their social life and culture. The church has also a high regard for the Muslims.”

This sets a fairly low bar for a religion to be accepted by Vatican2ism. Surely, then, Vatican2ism should accept Catholicism, right? But we now see, more clearly than ever, that the religion called Catholicism is the only one that Francis no longer accepts. This is necessary because if one accepts Catholicism, all other religions must fall. Fr. Calderon’s observation on this point is keen:

“The mortal enemy of integral humanism is integral Catholicism, in particular Thomism, because it possesses in reality all the good things that the former only appears to possess, and is well aware of its sophism.”

Having subverted the Faith to serve all mankind, the innovators must silence those who actually know this is heresy. Hence, Catholicism is the one religion that must be crushed by Vatican2ism.

How Preposterous is the New Religion? One may think that the new religion is merely as foolish as the average Protestant religion, with its rejection of Catholic Truth in favor of beliefs modified to suit the whims of men. Unlike Protestant religions, though, Vatican2ism attempts to retain its Catholic identity so that it may better serve the interests of the New World Order. As such, Vatican2ism suffers from a schizophrenia that would be comical were it not so destructive.

In the name of promoting Catholic unity, Francis issued Traditionis Custodes to banish the Church’s most important and visible source of unity, the Tridentine Mass.

So, for instance, in the name of promoting Catholic unity, Francis issued Traditionis Custodes to banish the Church’s most important and visible source of unity, the Tridentine Mass. So instead of a Mass that links Catholics with each other worldwide and throughout the history of the Church, we are left with the Novus Ordo, which serves as a visible symbol of division among all Catholics. Of course the Novus Ordo divorces today’s Catholics not only from Catholics throughout the centuries, but also from their fellow Catholics on the other side of the world. And because Satan takes perverse pleasure in mocking the Church, the Novus Ordo is also different from parish to parish within the same diocese; and different within the same parish depending on the celebrant; and different for each celebrant depending on which version of the  “Eucharistic Prayers” he wants to say on a given day.

As bad as the Vatican2ism liturgical situation is, we have to wonder if the doctrinal situation — at least in practice — is even more preposterous. Is there salvation outside the Church? Is there a hell? Should women be priests? Are civil unions praiseworthy? Should mortal sin prevent one from receiving Communion? Is there even such thing as mortal sin?

To all of this we can add Vatican2ism’s relentless pursuit of ugliness in art, architecture and music. Tragically, Vatican2ism’s obsession with aesthetic ugliness is matched by its grotesque immorality.

We have heard it said that the new religion posits 2+2=5, but this is too generous. The proper parallel to the new religion is that 2+2=5, or 7, or perhaps infinity, or a Volkswagen, or your favorite song, or really anything you want except for 4. If that sounds outlandish, ask yourself why we cannot retain the beliefs and practices that all the saints would have recognized as Catholic. How can Catholicism have been the only path to salvation for two thousand years and then — through the nonsensical edicts of immoral men — become the only one that is banished?

It is now evident that God will need to intervene in an extraordinary way to rid the Church of the scourge of Vatican2ism, but we are not powerless. We were warned that these days would come and that we would need to turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary to help us persevere. May she crush the head of Satan and the Vatican2ism he tries to inflict on the Church! Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us!
