Le Point reports that the American rock group Eagles of Death Metal, traumatized by the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday night, have now returned home to California. They were reportedly in the middle of a song aptly entitled Kiss the Devil when the killers stormed the concert hall and starting killing people.

How about some lyrics from that song by this “fun-loving” American band:

"Kiss The Devil"

Who'll love the devil?...
Who'll song his song?...
Who will love the devil and his song?...
I'll love the devil!...
I'll sing his song!...
I will love the devil and his song!... Who'll love the devil?... Who'll kiss his tongue?... Who will kiss the devil on his tongue?... I'll love the devil!... I'll kiss his tongue!...
I will kiss the devil on his tongue!...
Who'll love the devil?...
Who'll sing his song?...
I WILL LOVE THE DEVIL AND SING HIS SONG!...

Cute, eh?

You know, what ever happened to the culture war? Why has everyone surrendered in the campaign against "Satan's music" that our fathers and grandfathers fought tooth and nail?

Remember how vigorously traditional Catholics used to fight against the pop music industry—an industry that spends billions attempting to indoctrinate our kids 24/7 with a luciferian catechism lesson? What happened? Why did we raise the white flag?

Maybe it's time to get back to that.

Many thanks for our friends at the Fatima Center for their timely post this week of an old talk on rock/pop music that I gave down in Sao Paulo, Brazil years ago.

This talk was delivered at one of the late Father Nicholas Gruner's conferences for Catholic priests. My hope in posting it here is that it might rekindle the discussion (and maybe even the war) against pop music rot that not that long ago was nearly as important to traditional Catholic polemicists as the liturgical revolution and the restoration of the Tridentine Mass.

We can go to Latin Mass every day of the week and home-school until we're blue in the face, but if our kids are listening to Miley, Iggy, Justin and Gaga--well, forget about it. The war is over and we lost
