Archbishop of St. Paul/Minneapolis at Traditional Mass this Sunday

(www.RemnantNewspaper.com)  This Sunday, October 5, 2008, His Excellency Archbishop John C. Nienstedt of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis will attend the Traditional Latin Mass celebrated by Father John Echert at the Church of St. Augustine in South St. Paul, Minnesota.  The Archbishop will not only be in attendance but will also preach and be available after Mass for a reception.

In the short time he's been installed here in the Archdiocese, Archbishop Nienstedt has distinguished himself as a champion of traditional Catholic teachings on Faith and Morals.  He's taken tough stands on tough issues and has consequently paid the price, having been chastised on several occasions in the secular press for his uncompromising defense of the Church's teaching on homosexuality and other controversial issues.

His chancery office, as well as the Cathedral of St. Paul, has been the scene of organized protest against the Archbishop on several occasions by various groups who would have the Church change her infallible teachings.

The Archbishop is holding his ground with charity and conviction, thanks be to God.  In addition, he's been most accommodating to the Traditional Catholic community here in St. Paul.  There are already two flourishing parishes offering regularly scheduled Traditional Masses (including daily Masses), and, by Christmas 2008, an additional parish (the famous Church of St. Agnes) and perhaps one other will be offering the Traditional Mass, as well.

We're asking faithful Catholics from all parishes and chapels in the five state area—to please join us in welcoming the Archbishop to St. Augustine's this coming Sunday.  He has taken considerable fire for his courage and orthodoxy, and we believe it's essential the Archbishop be assured faithful Catholics in this area will stand by him come what may in the months and years ahead. There's no better opportunity for us to do so than this Sunday morning at St. Augustine's!

Please, come and show your unconditional support for the Catholic Church, her infallible teachings, her traditional liturgy and a loyal shepherd who is not afraid to stand and defend Christ in the public square. Please make every sacrifice to be here, and bring the kids!  At this critical moment, especially, we must stand together. Let’s pack that church!

Please see detailed directions to St. Augustine’s below. The Mass begins at 11:30.
