Vatican Approved Instructional DVD on the Extraordinary Form Arrives!

 

DENTON, Nebraska – November 14, 2008 –The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP) with the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), have completed production on a comprehensive video to teach priests how to say the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.  Taped on location at Mother Angelica's Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, this 2-DVD set comes with an exclusive introduction by Darío Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos, President of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei

Disc One provides a step-by-step explanation of every movement, gesture and action of the priest in the ceremony of Low Mass.  Fundamental liturgical principles specific to the Extraordinary Form and common variations are also explained.  Disc Two offers a real-time demonstration of a Mass, filmed from four simultaneous camera angles, selectable on demand.  A talk on the liturgy and a spiritual commentary on the Mass by Fr. Calvin Goodwin, FSSP, are also included. 

This initial release includes English and Spanish language options and, though primarily directed at North America, it will work in any NTSC DVD player and is not region specific.  A subsequent "International Edition" in both NTSC and PAL formats is planned for release 1st Quarter 2009 and will include additional language options in French, German, Italian, and Portuguese.  A Chinese edition is also in production.
